Mt. Diablo is mine, Now
It was hot today first off. I parked in Blackhawk to get a few miles on my legs before the climb. I was pretty nervous about the climb since I am a dedicated flat-lander. It went well, the south gate entrance is pretty relentless climbing, however it was shaded in parts. I love Mt. Diablo!
I dropped into my triple about 50 meters from the summit. Doh! I can't wait till next time!

You never forget your first time.
Congratulations on your accomplishment.
Now for part two: climb up North Gate Rd next time.
Post it on the Forum and I'll join you if I can. That side of the mountain is my backyard.
Yes, it is DiabloScott's mountain, it just happens to be in my backyard.

Dude - nothing wrong with running the triple in granny gear as long as you're still working out there.
Even when riding with competitive roadies, anything over 12% for me warrants granny gear - when it's that steep, you can pass people who are hammering with it.
Good job!

Congrats on the conquest. I enjoyed my first time too, I want to do a double summit next time, go up south gate to the top then down north gate and back to the summit.

Sounds like you got a case of the Diablo Fever. Were the winged earwigs out in force today?

Gah, I hope the earwigs are gone by now (or at least have lost their wings) - I'm planning to head up there either Saturday or Sunday.
