Tips for riding into downtown SF?

I'm starting a new job downtown (Market St., near Embarcadero), and I'm wondering what's the best route one could take from the Ingleside/SFSU area.

So far, I figure it'll be a good 10 miles, which isn't bad, but having never ridden into downtown, I'm not sure which route to take. Any suggestions would be so appreciated!

Best bet is to get over to Alemany or San Jose/280 off ramp then take Valencia or Market in. I found this link, never used it but see what it says.

Wow, thanks for the link!

I've been playing around with different starting points near SFSU, and I think I found a route that works. Chumasero/Galindo in the Parkmerced area to Brotherhood > Alemany > San Jose > Valencia > Folsom to Emabarcadero and finally Market St.

Now I just need to get out there and try it. Riding into downtown, the biggest thing I'm worried about it road conditions. Being SF, I know it gets rough in spots, so hopefully I'll learn where the potholes are before I hit them, lol.

I'd say take Valencia to Market and skip Folsom. Market is quite nice now that the inbound is auto restricted.

if you want something a little lighter to use, less load time with the web browser and easier to pull up on your smart phone, you could try this site http://amarpai.com/bikemap/bikemap.html . It's pretty much is the same as the SFBC route mapper.
