Yikes. It's below freezing in Antioch this morning.
Hey, what's parking on a weekday at BART PH like? Does it cost? Anywhere really nearby for free?

Parking is paid for inside the station after you pass the fare gate. I'm in Antioch today too and was trying to figure out how to ride to the Bay Fair station...

The Post Turkey Ride was a great reunion ride for me. I hadn't done a BF ride in over a year. I was a bit cold at the start but, it warmed up considerably...well I wasn't freezing. Dan, Tricia, Curtis, Ron, Steve and myself were able to make it to the start right on time. Dan took us on some nice secondary roads out to Marsh Creek. I kind of feel like I'm on a pleasurable Bay Area Back Roads Tour with Dan as the tour guides. He's always got some historical/hysterical tidbits of information and I always feel like I'm on a school field trip when He's in the lead...think He missed His calling and should have been a professor or, Historian of some sort.
I rode conservatively at the start but, actually felt pretty good as we traveled further on and actually just picking up the pace on the climb up Morgan Territory. BTW turkey and cranberry sandwich's are the new power food for me now. Cathy had loaded me up with a couple for the ride and I think it made a difference. I hadn't ridden that kind of distance in a long time and most of my riding lately has been single speed which probably helped the climbing. I did feel pretty sore and bonky by the time we finished though.
We got a few flats and it was kind of funny how Curtis has become the new "Director Of Flatitude". He seems to be called upon to change, manage or instruct all tube changing operations. I was a little worried cause I don't have a good pump and tubes (stolen). I had one tube and used that when I had a front blow out descending the North side of Diablo. It was a bit scary when it happened while just passing a car and hitting a hard corner with rocks.
We had decided to skip going to the summit with the fading light and the cold settling in.
It really was a great time everyone! BTW on the way home on the crowded BART, I met a young 4th grade boy who was doing His art on the train. I struck up a conversation about my bike with Him and told Him about some of my rides like the Davis Doubles I've done and the whole time He was drawing pictures of me! I bought two of them. One of which portrayed me laying down X eyed with a tombstone spelled out R.I.P and on the other side my resurrection after someone giving me water! It was a lot of fun and everyone was laughing.
Looking forward to the next ride.
Oh, BTW ran into "Glen" at the top of the plunge down into Livermore Valley. Hadn't seen Him in a year and a half.

Darn, how have we come to this? It seems like my rides all now need to be posted to Flickr, my blog, here and facebook. I hardly have time to ride any more.

The best thing about Pete joining us for this ride was getting to read one of his great and witty reports again. Great to have you out there Pete.
The worst thing about the ride is this picture! Jeez, Pete way to capture a perfect shot of my Mamil toe! *
Aren't winter riding clothes so flattering?
* Mamil = Middle Aged Man In Lycra

You gotta hit it from a low angle and hope no one notices.

The other import photo technique is to make sure you have the proper aspect ratio on your elevation profile so as to accentuate the studly vertical component.
