NorCal East, Spring Century?

We had a lot of fun when we did a group century ride back in '09. The one for '10 never happened. Hopefully we can get one organized for '11.

Tentatively planned for Sunday, April 17. I don't have a route picked out yet, I'm going to shoot for somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-5000 feet of climbing. Though the ride up to Foresthill is a good one, without much in the way of steep grades. It comes in around 5500 or 6000 ft. A lunch stop will be worked in.

We'll do it like the last one. Pacing around 16 on flats. Out for pizza/beer for dinner to follow the ride. I might be able to work in a shorter route for those that prefer a metric instead (62-64 mi, much less climbing).

Here's the route we'll ride. I've found a water stop where we'll likely need one. Make sure to print out a cue sheet! https://ridewithgps.com/routes/339638

That does sound interesting Joel. I have to check my calendar to see where Pardee Party, WildFlower and Bike Around the Buttes land.

I wanted to mtn bike up near that road, a great trail around there, just out of Auburn. But my "trip" was cancelled (work thing.) Looks like a great area. Oh, bad day. One of my "must ride" paid rides is that day. If the the date changes I will put it in my calendar.

What ride is that? I'm open on the date.

Diablo Century. It is the first ride I did, in 2009. 18 miles was my previous "long ride", saw and ad for this metric and signed up. Took forever to finish. In 2010 I cut an hour and a half of my time and this year I am going for the full century.

I see Bike Around The Buttes is April 16th. April's a tough month. Pardee Party on 4/2 and Wildflower is on 5/1.

Auburn's Sierra Foothill Cycling Club is putting together a brand new Metric Century in May (just before the TOC starts out of Auburn in one of the early stages). No details yet. Should be fun.

Just a reminder that I'm still planning this ride, even if I haven't yet worked out a route!

I'll check with Chris but I have no races planned that weekend. Would be nice to ride in that area again.

Leaning toward this route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/194445 There are a couple of outstanding climbs, and some fun descents. Lunch break at just about the half-way point.

Please note that the amount of climbing is over-estimated by 1000 ft or so.

Another idea for a route. I've ridden these roads but hadn't worked out a good way to string it together. A suggestion from another led me to it. Dog Bar and Magnolia are stunning roads to ride this time of year: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/339638
