Anywhere to rent a hard plastic bike case for air travel?

Hey gang,

I'm going to Dallas in April and I want to bring my bike. So I was wondering if there are any shops or places in the bay area that rents those hard plastic bike boxes for traveling on a plane?

I feel more secure using that style rather than the padded cases. I have a fear of heavy luggage being mercilessly tossed onto my bike in those ones and smashing my frame.

I've seen them on CL but I don't plan to travel often with my bike. So I can't justify buying one.

So if anyone knows of a place that has one to rent please let me know! Thanks in advance!

I forgot to post my rates, 6 pack of beer per week, unless it's cheap beer. Then it's a 12 pack a week.

Some bike shops have them and they will pack and unpack the bike. They rent by the week.

Gary, we have one we'll loan you. Catch is, you have to come to Fairfield, ride with us (conversation pace, promise) and buy lunch. Yeah, I know, we're easy but we aren't cheap...heh, heh.

I think some bike clubs may have them. I am thinking the Grizzly Peak Cyclists. If you join you can borrow the case and go on a few rides with them. They have a lot of rides and of course run the Grizzly Peak Century which boasts excellent BBQ chicken and home made quick breads, cakes and cookies.
