Good route from East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley area) to Mt Tam?

Hi all,
I was planning on riding from my home in the east bay to Mt Tam this weekend, either a road ride or on a touring bike and camping at Mt Tam and was checking out routes and it seems like there is no way to get there just by bike. Will I be forced to take Bart or a ferry across the bay? Aside from the Golden Gate, are all the bridges closed to bikes?
Thanks,
Ben

The only bridge across SF Bay that's open to bikes is the Dumbarton - but that's a long ways to the south. Or you could ride up to Vallejo by crossing the Zampa bridge, but that's also a long way out of your way - and Hwy. 37 isn't all that pleasant either.

I'd take BART into SF and then ride from there.

Yeah I was starting to figure that. I'm probably going to squeeze in a three day two night bike tour as the wife went to Vegas a few weeks ago and I stayed home with the baby I earned a weekend out.
I've lived here four years and still haven't seen Muir Woods
