Eh, so we get wet. What's a little wet? It can make for a real fun ride!

Y'all have fun. I don't enjoy riding in the rain, and I hate cleaning the bike afterwards.

How come I suspect we'll be searching out a rain date? I have a sitter to pay (as does Matt), so we either need to do that or decide to ride regardless.

Comments? We already heard from BBM...

Yeah, if it was about 25 F warmer!

Plus I'd hate to have someone go down coming off Cantelow

WRT a rain date, go/no-go, how much warning do you have to give the sitter(s), 48 hrs, like a hotel? The weather in my neck of the woods today is 30% chance of showers, just like Sat is forecast to be, and while it isn't raining here (yet), it's been dodgy for pretty much the whole day, but the temps have been pretty nice, actually. Supposed to be a little cooler out in the Valley on Sat, interestingly enough.

I really want to do this ride, but that said: I bike commute in the rain, but riding in the rain for fun just isn't fun. Though I admit, today in Contra Costa it was just a bit, and that's OK.
I don't have a sitter, so I'm able to make that last moment call on attending.

It only says 40% chance for Davis right now lol.
I remember the famous 20% chance that was a deluge of the Wine Country Century/swim/drown/freeze a few years ago.

I'll probably keep mine whether or not this ride happens. I'll either do another ride, or I'm sure I can find something to do with a whole day to myself.

Joel: any fun climbing in the area, with minimal traffic (so as to keep us safe in the wet)? I could ride my commuter bike since I don't care about it getting all gunky anyway.

Lots of fun climbing in the area! If the Cantelow ride moves on account of rain, then we'll talk....

48 hrs notice would be outstanding. 24 hours would be a bare minimum.

I like what a friend said about weather reporters years ago: "I sure wish I could get paid $100,000 a year to wave a wand at a map and guess".

If we're gonna suffer with this crappy weather, can we at least have some kick-ass thunderstorms? I would love to get video of a decent thunderstorm for my other non-cycling related YouTube channel. A funnel cloud (with no damage to anything of course) would be the icing on the cake.

I just checked weather.com. They've changed the forecast yet again to straight sht, er, I mean rain on Saturday. 70% chance.

Why do I have the feeling I'm gonna be getting some really good sleep on Saturday.

It's not looking good.

Next Sat is ok for me. Sunday the 12th is out. Got another ride that day.

Nope, it's not looking good...forecast says nothing but rain on Saturday. I'm afraid I can't make the next couple of Saturdays either. Someday, right?

Ha ha, well, ever the optimists, here's what NOAA has to say about the Winters-Cantelow-Pleasants Valley Rd area...

"Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 5 mph." What this really means is: "Thunderbolts and lightning - very very frightening"

To keep Joel and Matt in the good graces of their sitters let's put this ride off until a later date. I think Curtis & MyLilPony have a ride the following Sat 6/11, and I'm out the following Sat 6/18, but everyone go ahead and toss out dates that look good on your calendar and we'll meet up, eventually.

All the reports I read give a >50% chance of rain. I'm loathe to ask people to commit to the ride given the chances. (And like BBM, I really hate cleaning the bike after a wet ride.) So sadly I'll concede and reschedule. End of June works for us.

And re July: Really? Y'all want to be hosed down again?

We're flexible, in any case.

I just checked it again. 70% chance for both Sacramento and Winters, plus garbage all the way through Monday I'm already bummed that the ride can't happen. Now I won't even be able to do my usual solo climbing ride.

I'm with you on the cleaning. I also don't like the increased maintenance.
