oh man.. rough ride tonight.. I keep seeing the image of a skunk right in front of me with its tail raised; that was the last thing i saw right before I bailed pretty hard. Luckily i didn't get sprayed, though i did get some pretty bad road rash. bike seems to be ok at least

lol it was a totally different trail actually.. we were on the san tomas aquino trail out near great america. i like riding bike trails at night but after this i think we should stick to roads or trails that aren't far out in the cuts. it would have been hard to get emergency services down there quickly
I saw the skunk on the side of the trail pretty far ahead.. it was between the trail and a fence on the right. We came up on it fast and it freaked out. It ran on the trail right as we were passing.. Wilson was slightly ahead of me on the left, so the skunk was boxed in, basically right in front of me.
I was braking as it was running in front of me; then raised it's tail up. It was my turn to freak out i was so sure i was gonna get sprayed that i turned super hard and bailed out.
The fall wasn't too bad.. all the blood came from one of my knuckles getting chewed up a lot but it didn't go to the bone. i'm glad i didn't sprain anything

I'll be leading on my urban hybrid bike with 26" slick tires this week as opposed to my road bike.
