Question about the Ebbetts Pass Century in August

Have you participated in previous Ebbett's Pass Century rides?

https://www.mtadventure.com/pages/century.html

Do you have any stories to share or advice to someone who is considering riding this event?

I recently participated in the Markleeville DR and totally enjoyed climbing in the Sierras. If the Ebbett's ride is anything like the DR, it could be fun.

Let me know about your experiences.

I suspect if you liked the death ride you'll like this one as well... Several mileage combinations all on the west side of ebbetts. We just recently started doing a 40 miler up 4 out of dorrington up to bear valley... It's beautiful and I've heard good things about the ride! My kids have their first football games that day or I'd be doing the metric...

I'm a happy repeat offender headed back to the Ebbetts Pass Century for the 3rd time this year. Basically this is a great ride. Nothing like the DR at all, much smaller and down to earth vibe. No road closures but the roads and scenery are stellar. The ride is well organized and the support stations are more than adequate. The staff are excellent!!

The first year I did the metric and fell in love with the area. Last year I tried the century but bonked towards the end and used the SAG on Pacific Grade. This year I did the DR in good style and am going to try the century again. Regardless of this years results I plan to attend for the forth time in 2013.

Here is a little discussion I had with Airdo (the organizer) last year: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...tury-Aug.-28th

Thanks BearlyBoy,
We look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks.

Trayraynor - As BearlyBoy stated the Ebbetts Pass Century is a much smaller ride but it's got a lot of heart. The scenery is spectacular and the roads excellent for cycling. We still have a few spaces left for the automatic entry into the 2012 Death Ride so don't wait too much longer if you want that perk. Otherwise come on up and enjoy the ride.

Cheers,
Aaron

In.

After doing DR, I felt the need to ride in the Sierra's again. Should be fun.

Here is the NWS report for the top of the ski resort in Bear Valley with an elevation of 8000. Forecasted high of 75 sounds darn near perfect!

Returning to the EPC on Aug 19

It's been a few years and I'm excited to return to the Ebbetts Pass Century this year on Aug. 19th. Especially as the ride ventures all the way to Markleeville. I have great memories of this ride and hope my training is up to par to complete this new course in good style. Anybody else attending?

I am not going to be doing the Ebbetts Pass Century but have done it in the past and it is a wonderful ride. A small in terms of the number of riders and just plain nice area to ride in.
I will be riding on Ebbetts that same day with a group that will be assaulting the Ebbetts from the Markleeville side in morning.

Kaminokaze,
Maybe see you at the top of Ebbetts Pass? Are you doing an organized ride? I have a buddy in Reno that is balking at driving over to Bear Valley, so maybe I could steer him your way?
Thanks!

Ok thanks and I don't mean to intrude on your group. I'm still going to tell my buddy to buck up and get over to Bear Valley on Saturday morning.

That alright we would put him on the front and make him pull us to the bottom of the hill. (Whip sound)

It's not a problem more the merrier. we have a mix of riders so he can fit in with someone.
