Bay Area weekend tour ideas needed!!!
Hi - I'm new here but badly need some advice.
We are relatively new to the Bay Area, having moved here from the UK about a year ago. This weekend, we want to take our toddler on his first cycle tour but I am really struggling with deciding where to go. Can anyone help?
Ideally...
- 30 miles each way ideally on different roads each day
- Relatively flat, the trailer is heavy. Of course we expect/fancy SOME hills.
- Quiet roads where we can stop if necessary to sort out any toddler moments
- Nice scenery
Anywhere from Wine Country down to Monterey Area would be perfect. Thanks so much in advance!!

Hey there.. welcome.
Wow.. there's all manner of routes for you.
For some reason thought, the route from Santa Cruz to Carmel/Monterey pops into my head for you.
You can ride down and then spend some time at the Monterey Bay aquarium too with the little one and there's all sorts of stuff to do down in that area. It's also just gorgeous coastline.
Here's a (not mine) route I found for you.. I'm not sure it's the best or what suits you but it should get you going.

The ride from SF to Tiburon is really nice. It's not quite as long as you'd prefer (around 20 miles each way). It follows the coastline, so it's mostly flat, but there are a few hills here and there.

When you say relatively flat, is that UK standards or Bay Area standards? A lot of what folks on this group think is flat is not by any means to folks from other areas.
One ride I think of as mostly flat is Sausalito to Pt. Reyes through Mill Valley, skirting Tam). Some nice towns on the way out, then beautiful forests. there are campsites and B&Bs in Pt. Reyes (the Bear Valley Inn is nice, offers a discount if you arrive by bike and has indoor bike storage). The route is described on Bear Valley Inn web page.
