Staying in Gualala for a week -- anyone ridden up there?

Anyone here do any riding up in the Gualala area (about 50 miles north from Bodega Bay)?

There's some good climbing if I take Annapolis Rd to Skaggs Springs Rd. Other than that, I haven't mapped anything else out. If anyone has ridden in the area and could share some ride info, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,
Bob

I stayed up there for a weekend and did this ride:

Good climbing and few cars when you get away from Hwy. 1. Even on 1 the traffic isn't too bad up there. There's a store in Point Arena for coffee, food, etc.

Powpow's map shows what I think is the best route in the area, IMHO. If you don't wanto to go quite so far, turn left on Fish Rock Road from the ridge line of Old Stage Road. At the beginng of the climb up Old Stage Road, the right turn onto Gualala Road to where it crosses the Gualala River (the bridge is obvious) is a pretty out-and-back diversion. I wouldn't go further than that on Gualala Road, though, as I have always been a tad nervous about the territoriality of pot growers.

A powpow's map shows, you could stay up on the ridge top pretty much all the way to Point Arena. I've never gone that far, but if the earlier parts of Old Stage Road are any indoication, it would be very pretty, if somewhat strenuous, ride.

I've squeezed in two rides. Weather and family outings have made riding time a bit hard to come by. This place is very hilly and a great place to train for hills.

So far I've done:
1. Hwy 1 to Old Stage Rd to Gualala Rd (over the river and back) to Old Stage Rd up to 10 Mile Cutoff Rd and back

2. Annapolis Rd to Skaggs Springs Rd and back. The climb from the junction back up Annapolis Rd is quad burner. Overall, this is a gorgeous ride and one that I'd love to do on a regular basis.

I'm hoping to get one more ride in before we leave. We'll see.
