Wx Advice
Hi,
Coming over from the UK next week and plan to cycle from Union Sq area to Mt Tam, Stinson a couple of times. I will be starting at dawn both days. Just want a bit of advice about the weather. It looks like it is warming up nicely but is it still leg warmer weather for early rides? I do not want to over pack with cool weather gear.
Is it a wintery 65 or a summery 65?
Many thanks

All depends if you have the morning marine layer (fog). At this time of the year it is very common to start the day in SF under a thick cloud cover that usually burns out by Noon. If it's the case it will be cold, as cold as a London foggy day, so be prepared with warmers and a water resistant shell.
If the early morning is clear you will be in for a fine day. I like knee warmers in the morning tough.

Leg warmers, arm warmers, base layer and wind vest (for descent) and you should be good to go. Accuweather is your friend regarding rain probabilities, etc. You're going to have a blast.

Thanks for the info. Got in too late yesterday to collect my bike, missed my ride today. So only chance is tomorrow. Weather looks great.

Hi I rode to Stinson and back to SF via Tam on Saturday. I'd guess that the weather will be very similar for you tomorrow. You will definitely need arm/leg warmers etc. but it should warm up nicely by 9 or 10.
I highly recommend going to Stinson via HWY 1 and then if you are up for it Bolinas-Fairfax road, seven sisters and then top of MT Tam. This is approx 60 miles and 5400 feet of climbing from Union Square.
Conditions right now are perfect...
Have fun.

Only had time for Tam. Kit as recommended worked well.
How long are the Mt Tam/Panoramic road works going on for? And are there restrictions at the weekend?
Bikesf1, back again this weekend so I will give your route a go.
Many thanks for all the tips.
