7 Hells of San Francisco

SF Bike Coalition put this on this past weekend. As usual, a great suffering climbfest, with quality hill climbing to your heart's content. Although I only did half of it, it was still loads of fun.

For those that did not partake, here are a few videos so you can suffer vicariously through it:

Mt. Sutro (I think)

Dalewood

29th Street

Dammit! How come nobody told me about this? I would have LOVED to ride it! Especially after the SF steep hill training I got on the folding Bike Friday a couple weeks ago. This would have been a GREAT video!

Great sufferfest videos, as always! I didn't know about that Dalewood climb. I'm gonna have to do that one for sure, with camera recording as usual!

Wow! And you even didn't zig-zagged up the hills.
Impressive, great job!

Thanks, but I suffered later on 21st Street, which I didn't include, because I stopped halfway up ... couldn't muster up enough energy to complete it, so I had to ... gulp ... walk it the rest of the way. Plus, I only did 4 of the 7.

There are a lot more than seven hills on this ride. I ended up jamming my chain into my wheel, that ended my ride. Next year I might use the mountain bike. Here's the video.

Aw, that's too bad. Notice one thing ... the pace you guys went up was definitely a lot quicker than our group, but glad you made it back to your car somehow. As always, great video.

Here is my Strava from the ride. I did the longer route but was careful to pace myself as it was going to be a long, hot day and I had to ride from the end back to a friends house. We added more climbs up from 16th street, Rhode Island and 22nd. At that point my Garmin was showing upper 90's and I was glad I had a small extra water bottle in my jersey pocket. At the end I was a bit too tired to make it up the 38% of Broderick, a bit more than half way up and I was forced to unclip. I make a quick cameo at 6:32 in the video with my Volagi bike. Disc brakes are wonderful on all those steep descents.

Bostic's strava data shows 6000 feet, but he did the mother route. I'm guess the normal route is a little less than that.

7 Hells standard route:

The longer Devils Mother route:
https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/99624027

We added in Rhode Island to the top and also 22nd street so those are not reflected in the Mother's route. My Strava has extra climbing up Market as I had to ride back to a friends house. The last set of hills officially is up Divisadero.
