Seven Hells of San Francisco 2013?

I have been thinking about this ride ever since I heard about it. Traditionally it has been held in July, but I cannot find anything online about a 2013 edition. Does anybody know if it will happen this year?

I emailed the SF Bicycle Coalition since they organize the event and this is the response I received:

Unfortunately, the SF Bicycle Coalition member who organizes the ride had an injury so is not going to have it this year. However, he is working to hold it next year even bigger than ever before!

Maybe give the 49 Mile Drive a shot.

Since I would be riding solo, I was looking for an organized ride with others. Besides, most of the 49 Mile Drive is flat. I am looking for some climbs!

Bummer that I didn't see this earlier. I help run Wolfpack Hustle's SF brigade, and we've done this ride twice now. Here's this years edition:

This is our own ride that follows some of the same routing as the SFBC event.

We'll be doing it next year as well or we could do a special Part Deux, if we had enough interest in doing so.

Does this ride happen anymore? Once again, spent so much time searching online, and I found nothing for 2014.

Is it one of those "Somebody else needs to pick up the ball and run with it" situations? I'd definitely sign up, but the email you referenced earlier really does make it sound like it was the hobby of one man who isn't doing it any more.

That's my conclusion as well. Since the route is somewhat known, I would simply organize it myself, but I live nowhere close to SF.

A friend and I discussed about doing something similar in Monterey, but the hills are too far apart.

Yeah, I've thought about inviting some friends to Napa to try something similar to the Shasta Super Century, Super Century ? Mt. Shasta Summit Century and we do have a few dead-end hills for a smaller version of that. But yeah, really not the same as the SF one.

Dan Reider was the host of the ride and guided the B group after it expanded after a couple years. I believe he mentioned he was injured last year which is why it didn't take place in July of 2013. I've checked the SF Bike Coalition website but nothing at all for this year.

The Wolfpack Hustle guys did this on 7/8. Not sure if this was in place of the usual, or their own thing.
