lunch riding in millbrae?
hey guys, i need some of your collective wisdom to figure out some routes for lunch rides out of millbrae.
i got a new gig that's located on rollins rd. close to millbrae caltrain/bart station. the area doesn't seem very bike friendly, especially in comparison to menlo park/woodside/portola valley area where i used to work before. seems like i can either ride toward the bay to hit the trail that starts at broadway & rolllins. or ride up toward 280 and sawyer camp trail, which seems to be perfect for when i want to do intervals, since it's all uphill. i'm looking for about 20-30mile/1:30-2:00hour routes.
mostly i'm concerned with crossing el camino/millbrae ave/rail tacks or getting to the trail entrance by bayside park. are there some secret shortcuts that people take around here?
how about riding to millbrae from south bay? i was thinking of riding to caņada, then taking the trail up to pollhemus rd., then crystal springs, then trail to hillcrest blvd. down to the train station: https://goo.gl/jVf9hd would this be pretty enjoyable ride (traffic wise) to do during morning hours?
also, do you guys know of any weekday group rides in the area?
any info is much appreciated.

I can share what I know.
Your commute route up from canada to skyline is a fine ride, with a nice shoulder on skyline and relatively unbusy streets on the way down. I cut down riviera, then over to Trousdale from that, and then on Ashton over to Millbrae ave and go across to the train station there.
For 20-30 mile rides starting from millbrae I would recommend either 1) cutting up to skyline/sawyer camp and doing that as a loop, 2) cutting up to skyline again and going down to canada as far as you want and returning maybe via alameda to mix it up, 3) going north to San Bruno mountain and back, and 4) going South on Bayshore to Coyote Point/Seal Point and then hooking onto the path that runs around Foster City (all flat). Going North you can follow bayshore around the airport, but there are some annoying lights on Gateway before you cut up to Sierra point.
Plenty of hills to go up to get to skyline, but summit is probably the easiest and prettiest to ascend.

go up millbrae ave (its a good climb) and take sawyer camp trail to crystal springs and back. thats the most scenic route and if you go in the daytime on a weekday, you will only have to worry about new mothers with their strollers walking on the trail.
