Death Ride - Camping Options

OK, I've done a bit of searching and just want to confirm - neither Turtle Rock nor the BLM campground off Airport Road accept advance reservations for campsites. I was planning on going up on Friday morning (getting there around noon) would that be early enough to get a space, or should I plan on heading up on Thursday?

Thanks for the help.

Yes I am thinking you would be fine to get there by noon Friday. Most people get there in the afternoon. Plus many people camp along the road. There is 100-150 feet to camp along the road.

Thanks for the insights. My wife said she's going to volunteer for one or more shifts. I guess depending on which one, we might end up deciding to head up Thursday afternoon anyway.

Thanks,

If you stay multiple nights I highly recommend the BLM campground. It is cheap, has hot showers, and doesn't have the crowd and noise of the Turtle Rock area.
You won't need any reservation if you arrive before Friday afternoon, you should even have a tent site along the lake/reservoir.

Thanks. The BLM campground is my first choice, specifically for the reasons you list.
