Ride the Hurricane - Port Angeles Aug 5, 2012
Port Angeles to Hurricane Ridge, definitely a bit of a hillclimb. About 17 miles from the Natl Park Visitors Center, with a net gain of around 5,000 ft. Or 12 miles if you want to take the easier (partial) route starting at the Heart o' The Hills entry station. The annual Ride The Hurricane event is sponsored by the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce.

Apart from being a chamber member, I personally have no official connection to this ride, but am looking for people who want to come over and do this thing - in tweed.
I'm just finishing up a resto on my old randonneuring bike and think it'd be great fun to join all the lycra'd roadies on carbon race bikes in the long slow climb to the top, kitted out in a natty vest and knickers. And I have no intention of being the last one to the top. Anyone up for this kind of jolly good fun? Perhaps I'll bring us all some iced bubbly and cucumber sandwiches in my hamper, for the end of the ride.
Tweedy or not, you can get $5 off per room night at the centrally located Downtown Hotel if coming to Port Angeles for the Ride the Hurricane event. Contact Tim @ https://www.portangelesdowntownhotel.com/ for details on that.
