Fidalgo Island/Anacortes WA

Has anyone cycled around Fidalgo Island? I'm wondering what sort of steep hills one would encounter on the road on the south and west sides of the island.

The only road that is pretty steep is the Heart Lake road

I don't remember much being steep there, but it's been a year.

You can plot out a route in a lot of web apps (Garmin Connect, Map My Ride, Ride With GPS, etc) and get an elevation chart of what you're looking to do. That can be a very useful tool to help you strategically avoid hills.

Thanks for these replies. At 70, I've learned to err on the side of caution when it comes to really steep terrain!
