Jerk on I-5 Bridge b/t Portland and Vancouver
Has anyone that commutes between Portland and Vancouver ever had any issues with a surly guy that regularly yells in cyclists faces? He kind of looks like Billy Bob Thornton. He's done this to me a few times, which is obviously dangerous, alarming, and irritating. However, yesterday as I passed him, he threw his elbow into me and nearly knocked me off my bike. I have met several other cyclists that have had issues with this guy, but no one knows his name. Does anyone know who he is? I reported him to the police and I am going to press charges if the police can locate him. He is a menace to anyone riding between Portland and Vancouver, and he seems to be escalating his actions. He's not a homeless person. He seems to work in Portland and live in Vancouver because he walks from Vancouver into Portland every weekday morning around 7:30.
Thanks for any help!

I haven't been on that bridge.
The pictures I'm seeing show a rather narrow sidewalk.
Does the bridge have 4 sidewalks? Enough to separate bikes and pedestrians as well as direction of travel?
One thing I tend to do when passing pedestrians on narrow bridges is to slow to a crawl, unclip, and kick forward on the sidewalk with one foot. Kind of like a mix between walking and cycling. Time the passes to give space around the arches and pillars.
Ringing a bell, or announcing yourself is also always polite.
As far as your encounter with this one person, get a photograph, and call the police when he is still in sight.
And, of course, make sure everything you are doing is also legal and SAFE.
My Fly6 (rear) camera has both video and audio. A helmet cam or front cam may also be of help.
