I assume Velocult is mostly gone now.

So, what is happening to the Portland Classic and Vintage post Velocult?

We had a nice ride and BBQ @gugie's house earlier this fall. But, we can't expect that to be every time.

@jyl?

Are you asking whether there is a "central meeting place", whether shop, cafe, bar, etc for vintage bike enthusiasts to hang out?
If so, then no, nothing I can think of.
Then again, Velo Cult in its Portland incarnation was a pretty unique thing, something that would be hard to replicate easily.

If you're just looking for a bike cafe, Golden Pliers is great. They opened this summer. They're a full service bike shop with cafe (coffee, beer, a li'l food.)

In the past there were 2 or 3 gatherings a year with classic&vintage bikes at Velocult with rides and a bike "show".

I'm having issues with the Golden Pliers website, but the photos I'm seeing online shows something with a rather different character than VC. But, perhaps better organized.

Golden Pliers does seem to have some events, often evening events.

So, they may be amiable to spring/summer "shows". Perhaps a ride + evening event.

Hmmm....
What was that other bike shop that hosted the swap meet with the large outdoor patio next door?

Well, Golden Pliers isn't vintage focused, nor do they have the same character of Velo Cult. I just said they were a bike cafe.
They're up for events, but their space is teeny. They won't be a good spot for an indoor "show off your bike" type of thing.
Velo Cult was unique in the fact that they had so much space in their shop, and much of it wasn't devoted to selling bikes/products.

Not sure. I'd like to find a brewery that has some open space and is willing to host a few dozen bicycles in return for beer sales. Any suggestions, let's hear. I have not started looking yet, although Migration Brewing on NE Glisan might work though the space would be on the small side.

The other option would be to find an event space to rent and bring in beer, might cost $1,000, we'd have to charge for admission/beer and hire OLCC-licensed servers, more complicated although if we want to make this a regular sustainable event of scale, might have to bite that bullet.

A third option would be if there is a bike-related business that has the space and interest to host.

In good weather this would be easier, we could use Rivelo's parking lot etc. A large enough indoor space is tougher. Anyone know if Chris King, UBI, etc might have space and interest?
