Snowpacadoom!!!

They've upgraded the forecast, we're due for more snow than they initially predicted.

Anybody know if they're planning to groom tbe Burke Gilman Trail? I don't have backcountry skis.

I would be very surprised if the BG or any other bikeway were groomed. I am just gonna put on my boots and walk where I need to go.

Maybe around UW they might clear crosswalks or intersections for students walking to classes. I've seen trails around eastside like Costco(Issaquah) and Microsoft(Redmond) where trails around the campus cleared for accessibility. YMMV on location areas...

It's been fun here, hasn't it? Lots of good snow, fun driving. Also fun snowshoeing and skiing. I could have laid out a nice XC track in several places but folks wanted to go up to the pass where there's real snow. It's even been too cold to ride my rollers in the shop, so I've had to go to the gym and use a spin bike. Which was OK, right from the spin bike to weight room. Raining on the snow right now in the lowlands, but more snow coming and no sign of outdoor riding weather.

I've been commuting to work on my mountain bike. It's been working out OK. Will probably switch back to my regular commuter next week.

I was just thinking the same thing!! Definitely CHILLY, but not sure if it will be hilly if the snow/ice persists as it will pose dangerous un-rideable roads and possibility of cancellation?!? Really hope the event happens but we'll see next week what the weather gods bring...

Cliff Mass just blogged that there is a possibility of more snow starting Friday and continuing through the weekend.

I'm planning to take a later ferry so hopefully it warms up, but I can't imagine Cascade will let the event proceed if conditions are dangerously icy. They haven't announced anything though, which is concerning.

The weather conditions for next week are still pretty uncertain. I am sure we’ll get info from Cascade when the day nears.

I rode to work for the first time in nearly 2 weeks yesterday The spots that weren't wet and slick were really sandy. Made it there and back w/ no problems but several pucker moments along the way. I'm curious about Chilly Hilly as well and will probably take a later ferry to let things warm up a bit.

I rode today also. I only fell once, when I tried to ride through an unmelted patch of slush/snow/ice next to my house. (I just had to try!) The rest of the ride was on bare roads, although there was still a lot of snow encroaching on the roadway.

I'm doing snow sports or riding indoors until the shoulders are clear. One injury can ruin your whole season. Then too, when it's freezing at night and doesn't go over 40° the next day, too great a chance of ice in the hills. I'm getting good workouts and having fun. Looks like maybe another 10 days of not so good before we can get back to regular rain riding.

My gym is in Upper Queen Anne, and closed for the week. I was worried because if I go too long without doing squats, I'll get crippling DOMs when I start again.

Been doing plenty of skiing, 4 hours today. I didn't ski around town, I didn't want to scrape my skis up, and the conditions just weren't the same. But it was fun to go out and walk in.

I got a job at MS and they're letting me work from home. I appreciated that so much.

A favorite XC spot in times like these was golf courses. They are great with as little as 6". Lay out your own course, lots of little hills, great fun.

That's a great idea, thanks. Manicured lawns will be a lot gentler on my skis than a sidewalk!
