Brooks Saddle Repair Portland OR

Hello everyone! I am rather new to the Portland OR area and recently the tension bolt on my Brooks B17 saddle broke. I bought a replacement bolt but its near impossible to install due to the lack of threads for the first 1/2" of the bolt. I went to my local shop which was clueless and my google searching hasn't shown any shops in the area who actually work on Brooks saddles. From some past experiences while on tour, finding anyone who knows anything about Brooks saddles seems to be rare and the US only has one official repair shop who is in PA. Before I pay the money to ship the saddle I was wondering if anyone knows of a shop in the Portland area that actually knows how to work on Brooks saddles and could install the tension bolt?

Thanks for any suggestions!

I would take the broken bolt to Parkrose Hardware and have them mach one up for you.

I can also vouch for the fine folks at Pearl Hardware in The Pearl (obviously). I took them my Cygolite Hotshot Pro 150 after it fell off my BMC. The guy spent about ten minutes gathering nuts and washers and bolts and hex keys and stuff and then proceeded to put it all together like that. It is as solid as El Capitan now. Total cost? About a dollar fifty.

The bike repair people I deal with in Portland are at Western Bikeworks. You might call them and tell them what is going on. They are very customer service-oriented and quite competent. I would be quite surprised if they could not help you.

Thanks. Just saw that. Guess REI, 3 blocks down Lovejoy, will be pleased.

Not sure who your local bike shop is, but I've been happy with the service I've gotten at NWProGear on Woodstock near Foster and I-205.
