Chilly Hilly

Anybody else riding it? It will be my first large-scale group ride - any advice for a first-timer?

No advice for this particular ride as I never done it. But I will say the Cascade bike events are pretty well organized. I have always had positive experiences on all of their rides that I have participated in.

Give us a ride report. Interesting read all these large group rides.

Advice = I have heard the descents early in the ride (while folks are still crowded) are where the most serious accidents occur.

A Snowy Chilly Hilly.
Mann...., do I want to read this ride report!

Hope all survive.

edit: Looks like the snow missed Bainbridge Island, just wet and mid-30*s.

It was a great ride! The snow came in the night before and I was definitely worried about conditions but Sunday morning was cold and mostly clear. Postcard-like scenery actually, with sun shining on snow-covered fields and barns for some of the ride. Roads were wet at first but dried off as they sat in sunshine. As predicted, the early stretches were quite crowded, but we all thinned out as the miles went by. Lots of friendly folks, both fellow riders as well as residents out bundled up and sitting in lawn chairs to cheer us on. Really well-supported ride - seemed like there were loads of volunteers and people with needs were being cared for well. Definitely a ride I'll look to do again next year!

Awesome. Thanks for the update. I just signed up for Flying Wheels. I think this will be my 10th time doing the ride. Weather is pretty much always nice and the route is very enjoyable.
