Thanks 1Mule I'm buying a bike, again (had a few over the years) Wednesday from our Big 5, or maybe even Walmart depending. I just want something to workout on, ride our paths around this little area, and maybe/hopefully meet some other serious cyclists I can eventually hook up with for rides. I figure I will just play it by ear because the articles I read are all different stories of course. How people got to where they could ride to other towns etc.

I did hear that it's better to get used to riding on a conventional seat, instead of the memory foam etc. Like to find out what others have to say. The one article said that I will get used to a firmer seat, and they are better because of the way our bodies are shaped, seat-muscles, something like that I was reading. Denise

I'm living between Seattle and Tacoma (for now).

I'm from the South, though (and I don't mean south of Everett )

I think think 2 sports can be completely symbiotic; ride your mtn. bike to places where the hatch
is happening. Wading back into the willows in search of brookies is my 2nd favorite sport.

I'm glad that I'm not alone. I'll need to get a MTB for those fishing trips!

E Portland when visit folks friends family, Kennewick home, but I love working in the Twin Cities(MN) because the "walking trails" put the bike trails here(PDX) to shame 8 ft wide of smooth asphalt..in the burbs too. Flat riders dream state

Salem, Oregon here, stuck between the more bike-friendly cities of Portland and Eugene.

Hey PNW people, do you think it will rain this weekend?

Yo, it's a long winter......!!

Yakima, Washington...
68-year-old retiree, lost my riding partner a while back - he retired to Arizona (smart man). As I'm sure you're aware, finding a compatible riding partner is nigh to impossible.
I'm not a competitive rider - take my time, do some photography and watch otters play in the river. I don't do the group ride thing - spent 30+ years in the classroom - had enough of groups to last me a lifetime...
A card-carrying member of Rails-To-Trails Conservancy ; love to ride the Rails-To-Trails routes in Idaho, Washington, and Oregon..
Had a large, grey (shimmering silver in the morning light) wolf come in close (within 100' - nothing aggressive) while on a remote, solo ride this past summer. Probably a member of the Profanity Peak Pack up near Curlew, Washington. It was an incredible experience - if somewhat unnerving.... It came out of nowhere and disappeared into nowhere - typical wolf behavior..
Stay safe out there, folks...
William

New guy

Mill Creek, WA
New to cycling and just bought my Trek DS4 in the last few weeks. Having a blast!! So far I've taken rides on the Centennial trail and cruised around the local neighborhoods. Will be looking for some easy to intermediate trails. My commute is from upstairs to my downstairs home office, so it might look a little strange to the family if I started biking it

Bothell, WA. Just moved up from Seattle to live on UWB's campus. Car's dying, so seemed like a good time to get a bike. It's been years since I've ridden last - back when growing up in midwestern suburbia.

Spokane, WA here...newbie at 62 yrs old. I got an Omega mtb 1800 (old I know but it fits) A 1990's Trek 820, 2013 Schwinn Sierra,1990 (?) Nikashi Manitoba mtb, 80's Nikashi 10 speed that looks showroom. I ride and tinker and rebuild as a new hobby as I just retired 3 months ago and gotta keep busy. Rode my first sanctioned BMX race last year and placed 3rd and got a trophy on a 20" cruiser. Never do that again, as I am to old and broken up and don't want to reinjure my neck...lol Let the young guys do that.
