Worst Day Portland Ride
Any of you registered for the Worst Day of the Year Ride? I would like to do the 40 mile route (maybe we won't get lost in the abyss of Beaverton this time...).
I think the ride is on Feb. 11.

Better question would be who does the nude rides. And I think that would be the ride that doesn't need much training.

I agree that you don't need to do a lot of training for this ride, but it does include a couple of decent climbs. On the way out the route goes over the west hills through Washington Park and on the way back it follows Cornell road. Neither hill is a killer, but last year we passed a lot of people who were really struggling up Cornell.

Well if you're going to do the 40 mile 'challenge' route instead of the standard 18 mile ride, you might be right about the training.
The only training required for the naked ride is in taking off your clothes and bending your elbow.

I just got registered. Hopefully the weather is better than it has been this week! Rain is one thing, but ice and snow raises the stakes. I had to ride my mountain bike to work the last couple of days.

I want the last bowl of chili, even if it means cutting short the ride to get in line and letting people go by until they're scraping the bottom of the pot. mmmmmm good chili

I signed up for the 18 last night, but I am considering riding in from Oregon City to do the ride just to add a few miles. Anyone in the Oregon City area?

I bike to work so I get a chance to keep in shape even in winter.

Jakey, that's great that you can make it. Which one did you register for?
Do you guys want to meet up somewhere before the ride? If I counted correctly we have Dtrain, Masher, and Jakey (most likely) doing the 40-mile. I will be with a couple of people from work, but it would be fun to reconnect with the BF gang.
Last year it was kind of a zoo at the start (did anyone else see the woman get hit by a line of bikes as she tried to cut across several lines and make a left turn?). I will be riding past OMSI around 8:30 if anyone is interested in meeting there and riding to the Lucky Lab. I am going to try to get organized and pick up my packet tomorrow afternoon.
Another option would be to just look for each other at the start or the first rest stop at REI.
