Coeur d'Alene Spokane area lake CDA

Does anyone know what a good route around lake CDA is and what the terrian is like? I could do a mapmyroute, but I heard there might be a trail around the lake and those don't show up on my map. Also which direction is better to ride. I'm interested in route, distance, and terrian. I may try to ride it this fall before it gets too cold.

thanks

The Cenntenial trail from Spokane will take you almost out to Wolf Bay but stops there. The exit to Harrison from I-90 (can't think of the name) will take you along and above the east shore, but I wouldn't want to ride a bike on it. It's narrow, twists and turns, no shoulder, steady traffic with drivers looking at the lake not you! And of course the CdA trail that starts in Plummer goes along the bottom end of the lake to Harrison. The CdA trail is wonderfully flat from Heyburn State Park to Harrison. Slightly uphill to Plummer. The trail is STILL closed beyond Harrison. I check earlier this week and was told that the repairs will be finished very soon. The only road I know of along the west side is Hwy 95, aka "the death highway". It winds more through rolling farm land than along the lake. If you have not been out on the CdA trail yet, it is a fabulous ride. Check out the web site at friendsofcdatrail.org. You can get a map with lots of North Idaho trails from the friends site. We're going to try the connecting trail from Mullan to the Hiawatha trail over Lookout Pass on Monday. It's going to be either a super fun ride or a what were we thinking ride or maybe a little of both. LAB

PM me if you want more info about riding the CdA trail. We seem to have spent a good deal of time on the trail this summer. It would be a great fall ride, weather permiting.
