Weekend trip up to Summit Lake. Camped on a ledge about 125 feed above the west side of the lake with absolutely amazing view.

I just spent a few days on Ross Lake. My plan was to rent a kayak and paddle in to a camp, but when I went for my permit, I learned I'd have to share the island with two other people. The ranger told me "the most popular camp on Ross Lake is available. It has a waterfall, and room for one." So I enjoyed a bit of solitude, 20 miles hike from the nearest road. I took a water taxi, they dropped me off and picked me up three days later.
Hiking to the Ross Lake Resort, to catch the taxi.

Took this on my way home from work yesterday morning. I work nights and sometimes take a longer way home, put in a little over 25 miles. This from where Lake Washington Boulevard meets Seward Park.

Summit Lake on July 8th and of course Mt. Rainier is just a turn away. Yellow in July seems just right.

Since this Forum is about the PNW, I'll show a few pics from just about the farthest (?) north-est, westerly point you can go in these lower 48. Neah Bay and the road + trail to Cape Flattery are at the Pacific tip of the Strait of Juan DeFuca (i'll have to get those later).
Just south of Neah Bay is Cape Alava which is the western-most point in the 48. Three mile hike from the trailhead. Quite a few beach campers, but the weather was good for Sept.

From the mystic land of Nowhere. When the Astoria-Megler bridge was under development/construction in the early-mid 60's it was lambasted as the "Bridge to Nowhere". This is looking south from Point Ellice to Astoria. I'm a happy resident of Nowhere.
