Great photos, Lamplight. I love this last one. In case anyone doesn't know -- that's moss growing on the trees, rocks, and everything else. That happens when you live in an arid climate.

Actually it looks like my place, but instead of that trail on the other side it would be my driveway. I only get around 80" of rain per year.

La Push, WA - fog lifting. This past week-end.
No vamps sighted in Forks.
Quiet, lonely roads ridden in the sun. Even the chipsealed surface didn't seem so bad when double-gloved.

Sunday morning a good friend and I got on the road at 3 am and drove to Rainy Pass; we hit the trail around 6 am and were above tree line for the sunrise. Got a few pictures of the larches.
It was a bit startling to see all these empty basins that had obviously held glaciers very recently.

Wildwood, have you ever ridden the trail from Mora to the Ozette rez & back? I hope to ride my Mb there next

The best resource I can recommend is the USFS Station at Forks. When I stopped in, there was a lady knowledgeable of local bike trails and paved paths. Also the Natl Park Service at Lake Ozette might be able to help but they are closed for the season. Maybe the Park Service office near Port Angeles.
In addition to the LaPush area, have ridden the road from 112 to Ozette, and 112 from Port A. out to Neah Bay & Cape Flattery, Shi Shi beach, etc.
I have hiked from Ozette and camped a couple of times at Cape Alava. If the weather is good that's a sunset worth hiking for.
Let us know if there is a trail, it would be spectacular and likely a very uncrowded ride. Chain saw over a buck saw.

Hmm? Google maps shows it as a bike trail, but then again it showed a couple sections of trail on the Olympic
Discovery Trail that I discovered to be non-existant last summer, or at least non-passable on your bike. I may
have to make this a backpack thing. If I had a fat bike it might be passable at low tide on the sand, but I doubt
it, quite a few cliffs to get by & creeks to cross. I think I'll check directly with the Makah, I got to

Looking west down the ship canal towards the Olympics from the Fremont Bridge.
Fog rolling into the city from the sound. I shot this from the Jose Rizal Bridge, which I used to cross on my morning commute when I lived in the south end. I miss having this view in the morning.

I can't match the quality of photography from @SeattleForrest (and others), but my beautiful PNW has forest roads, some with new asphalt (& no gravel), with huge trees just at roadside, that lead to great destinations.
Sorry for the crappy photos, but had a great PNW solo ride and the purpose of the pics is to convey........... well you've been there.... hopefully.

factoid: the color sequence of double rainbows is almost always a reverse of the other. Not sure about triples, rumor is they are harder to shift.
edit: taken a couple days ago sw of Portland, facing SE as the storm departed, chased by afternoon sunshine.

So I heard on local TV that Seattle & Portland were both in somebody's 'Top 5 Hardest US Cities to Winter Thru' - or something like that. I think a body ought to just get outside a bit more to avoid the depressive tendencies of others. Those who join will be positive, too.
Sandwiched between visiting Mt Baker and visiting near Mt Rainier, I squeezed in a couple of hikes (1 wetish, 1 mostly dryish) in my neighborhood winter 'almost rain forest'. And a dry bike ride (not pictured).

On Sunday some friends and I hiked along the Mountain Loop Highway, from Deer Creek (where the road is gated) to Big Four. This can be a great place to ride during the summer. Good place to go stretch your legs or take some BC skis in the winter, though.
