Where are you traveling from? Portland to Solvang in Southern California is over 900 miles and a 16 hour drive - are you planning to do the drive in one day?
FYI to others. Here is a link to the Planet Ultra March 28 2009 Solvang double century. It is a one-day double century starting 5.30 AM for slower riders and cutoff at 10 PM. Limited to 550. Local hotels with double century arranged group rates are (currently) over $100 per night.
Double Century registration fee is $100 with a $15 discount for early birds (more than 4 weeks prior to event). Registration less than 2 weeks prior to ride is by email reservation with $120 cash at rider check-in. Entry fees are non-refundable under almost all circumstances including event cancellation due to natural disasters.

Central Coast Double starts in Paso Robles - only 93 miles north of Solvang. It's a great ride too... but much harder than the Solvang Double.
