Proposed Oregon Law???
One of my students from Oregon told me that his father informned him that the state is considering a ban on all types of roof, trunk and hitch racks due to the excess gasoline that they supposibly waste. This includes, bike, ski, canoe and other racks.
Sounds fishy to me considering that most of us Easterners view the Pacific Northwest as an outdoor sport friendly area. |
Not quite right. Oregon House Bill 2186 would ban certain aftermarket parts from being installed onto vehicles in order to reduce greenhouse gases. Primarily aimed at tires and other performance equipment. The intro is here:
http://www.leg.state.or.us/09reg/mea...2186.intro.pdf I suppose you could stretch the definition of "aftermarket part" to include racks, etc., but that does not appear to be the intent of the bill at all. Plus the govenor would be committing political suicide if he tried to ban racks, etc. |
