Haleiwa Metric Century

"Named one of "The 50 Best Rides in the USA" by Bicycling Magazine, the John B. Kelley Haleiwa Metric Century Ride will be held April 26, 2009. Nearly 800 bicyclists begin at Kaiaka Bay Beach Park, pass the world famous surfing locales Sunset Beach, Pipeline, and Waimea Bay to Swanzy Beach Park. Don't miss this scenic tour of the North Shore, from Haleiwa to Sunset Beach, Kahuku and Swanzy Beach!"

Anyone doing it this Sunday? I am going to do it if I can figure out what is causing the excruciating pain in the back of my knee when I ride and fix it in the next day or so.

Anyone done it before? If so, how is it?

Check your saddle height? Too high, maybe?

I'd love to do the ride, but there's this business of 2,413 miles of water to get to the start. Ahpook, are you still over there? Are you doing the ride?

It was a bit too low and then I raised it and it got a lot better. Still hurts when I ride though and now hurts when I walk. A Dr. visit is probably in the near future.

Anyone know if you can ride with aerobars on this ride?

I don't think you can ride with aeros on it but I could be wrong. I last did it in 2006 and absolutely loved it. For a relatively bike-unfriendly island they do a great job of keeping the course safe and drivers are pretty respectful. Not mention the most scenic thing I've ever done on a bike
