My buttocks hurts!

Went down hard today on my way to work...The ice is treacherous! I fear I will have one heckuva bruise on my right butt cheek but that's not so bad I suppose...My poor Raleigh Superbe got some scratches mainly to the rear of the bike. The rear fender mounted reflector is no longer pristine and the edge of the rack looks a bit ratty. Other than that not bad! Tough old gal.

Careful out there everyone!

Ouch! The ice has been something over here and, if it's not that, it's that cruddy de-icer. I've been safer on the indoor trainer this past month.

I've only ridden about a week and a half out of the last month. When there's much of a chance of ice, or any actual ice, I rock the busaru. Going down on ice last year was enough for me, and it sounds like I had a similar fall to yours. At some point I'm going to buy a second bike that can take studded tires. Right now I'm drooling over the Kona Sutra.

Riding in today for the first time in a week felt great though.

Yesterday was the only real black ice day for my commute and I was home w/ the kids. Not much use for studded tires for me so far this season.

12/05/09 I took a spill making a left hand as normal but found out the hard way it's not done that way. Hurt my left shoulder and left thigh big time and just got back on my bike today for the first time in a month :-)
What did I learn? There's nothing normal on ice.

I ordered and now have on my bike Schwalbe Marathon Winter studded tires. I've decided to leave them on until Spring whether the pavement is icy, wet, dry, or whatever especially since I'm on the road at O'dark thirty AM.

Anyone else here in the Seattle area leave their studded tires on for the winter? To me the conditions are too variable after falling once and losing this time in preperation for the STP this year.

I was riding over a bridge that had iced up and my wheels started sliding. I was hoping I could keep it upright, but the ice won. The only damage was a bruised hip and torn undies. Somehow my riding tights were fine.
