Looking for Vancouver riding buddy

Hey folks, I'm looking for a riding buddy in the Orchards/NE Vancouver area.

Me: 35, female, really out of shape, fat. :notamused:I've been an avid cyclist all of my life, but after being hit by a car in 2004 (and nearly dying) I was afraid to ride. My bikes have gathered dust for six years, but I want to get back into shape. The threat of obesity-related disease is a bigger threat to me now than being hit by a car, so I've been riding by myself for a couple weeks, but it's kinda...well, lonely. I need a riding buddy, but I can only do MAYBE 2-3 miles per every other day or about 45 minutes at a moderate pace at this point. So, if you're a gal trying to get back in shape too, and you live in the Orchards/NE Vancouver area, please contact me. I also go to the 24-hour fitness and swim on my off-bike days if you want a gym buddy too.

Thanks!:D

Me: guy, not enough time to ride, married, two cats. Cool avatar!

Have you gotten in touch with the VBC? http://www.vbc-usa.com/ They've got an email list, so see who's where.

I just moved to Vancouver, so I wasn't aware of the VBC. Thanks! I'll definitely check them out. I have two cats also, and I'm married...my riding buddy can be a man or a woman, I really don't care, it's just that guys are usually very competitive and much stronger, so I assumed they'd get bored riding with slow ol' me. :/ Thanks for the reply!

I would also post @ Women for Bikes on http://www.bikeportland.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=21

I hope this helps.
