Champoeg State Park Bike Camping - April 3-4

CANCELLED - Trip cancelled due to weather
-------------------------------------------------------

Yes, it's camping season again, and we're going back to one of our favorite old haunts, the historic Champoeg State Park!

Please join us for a 37 mile ride through Washington and Yamhill Counties, past orchards and vineyards on low-traffic rural roads to the site of Oregon's first provisional government. We'll make a stop at Adelsheim Vineyard on the way down so that those who'd like to taste or purchase some terrific local wine can do so. After that, it's on to the campground with a short stop in Newberg for food & supplies.

Champoeg State Park is a full-service park with flush toilets and individual shower stalls. The showers are heated and free (the best part). Champoeg's hiker/biker park costs $4 per person per night, and can easily hold 40+ cyclists. It's never full, and it's separated from the RV campsites by a small wooded area. Champoeg is a great park for sitting and socializing around the campfire.

What - Champoeg Bike Camping:
Where - Hatfield Government Center MAX Station
When - 7:45am, Saturday, April 3rd (yes, Easter weekend)
Who - Probably 6-8 people (hopefully YOU!). We get groups as large as 20 in the summertime, but the weather tends to keep the group size small in April and May.
Why - Because it's FUN!

Weather: https://tinyurl.com/auwsyj

Note: Forecast for the weekend is high of 52 and low of 37, with a 50% chance of showers. If you do not have a warm sleeping bag, tent, and raingear, Cycle Wild's recommendation is to skip this trip and catch the next one at Milo McIver on May 1-2. Email matt.picio@cyclewild.org if you have questions or concerns regarding this trip or your gear.

Thanks! Hope to see you there!
