I will be coming to Washington on the 12th. I will be staying near Snohomish and another city about 20 miles away. I wanted to know if there is anyone there to ride with, any group rides, preferably non competitive and slow ones because I suck on hills.

I have lived in the Seattle area all 50 years of my life, and I know of no Sonomas in this area. Are you actually referring to the town of Snohomish, which is in my neck of the woods?

That would be it! sorry for the mistake, i just heard of the town today with a harsh arab accent and spelled it to the best of my ability.

Are there good rodes there? lots of hills? any chill group rides?

This is your lucky day. I live very near there and ride hither and yon through there all the time. The bad news is that much like the rest of the Seattle area, there are quite a few hills. The good news is that there are some relatively flat rides. The Centennial Trail, an old railbed, extends for 17 miles north of Snohomish, and is one of my favorite rides. It is pretty flat.

The local bicycle club (www.bikesclub.org) has a list of group rides in the area. https://www.seattlebiketours.org/memb...snohomish.html is another list of good local ride routes. https://www.commtrans.org/FAQs/Bikes.cfm has some PDFs of bike routes here in the county.

Let me know when you get in, and I might be available to meet up for some rides. Post another message here in the PNW forum titled "Visiting Snohomish county and looking to meet up with other riders" and you should get some activity from that.

www.bikely.com and www.bikeroutetoaster.com may have "public" routes posted. Search for Snohomish and see what they come up with -- you should see routes where the person who charted them included the name Snohomish in the route title or in the list of checkpoints along the route.

The Centennial Trail is flat; well, slopes of up to 2% or so, no much more, since it's an old railroad grade.

There is a loop of about 25 miles that goes from Snohomish to Everett and back; counter-clockwise is flattest, outbound on Riverview/Riverside/Homeacres Roads, skirts the east part of downtown Everett to the Lowell neighborhood, then returns to Snohomish on the Lowell-River Road.

A nice ride, with just a couple of moderate rises and one short hill, is Snohomish - Monroe - Snohomish; from downtown Snohomish to Monroe on the Old Snohomish-Monroe road, south to the Tualco road, cross the Snoqualmie River and take a right for the High Bridge Road climb; staying on that main road, taking a right on Elliot, then a right on Broadway, right on Springhetti and returning to Snohomish; about 25 miles also.

After that, most of the routes have several hills or ridges to go over. It will look different than Houston, that's for sure. Welcome for your visit!
