Good LBS in the Spokane area?
 

My friend just bought his first road bike used off of another friend. I want him to go to a good LBS to have them give it a once over, make sure everything is in good working order, and also to get a fitting done. I don't want him blowing out his knees stretching his legs to pedal cranks that are too long for him. Does anyone know of a good bike shop in or around Spokane that does fitting? I need a good and honest shop, as my friend knows nothing about bikes. I don't want him to get talked into changing or upgrading parts unnecessarily. Thanks in advance for your help.

Wheel Sport, there all good, but I think the guy that does the best bike fit is on the Wheel Sport on Division. I usually go to Wheel Sport on 395 because it is close. Bicycle Butler does good work, I just don't make it there often. There is North Division Bike Store I don't deal with them much but to be fair they sell Serrota's which are a custom bike. I've seen a bike out front that is designed to get measurements on.

These all tend to be on the norhtend, because that is where I ride.

I'd second Bicycle Butler. I bought my Bianchi new from them back in the late 90's and had some emergency work done there before the 24 Round the Clock race this past May. They were great both times. Not sure how they are with bike fit, though.

I live in Post Falls and use North Division Bike Shop as my shops, if that says anything to you. Fantastic service, everyone there is super knowledgeable, and the fitter (You want Eric) is great.

North Division Bicycle Shop get's my vote! All of the shops mentioned have good people. Two Wheel Transit downtown is another good shop.

If you like a shop to rock and roll a bit - plus they have a few guys that have been to the Specialized fit school - Wheel Sport East is where it's at - ask for Jon or Josh 509-921-7729

Plus - Jon has been to Tokyo a couple of times

I would recommend 2 Wheel Transit, they always take good care of me and are very reasonable with their prices.
I would avoid any of the Wheel Sports, it seems that a requisite to work there is being a ****** bag and unfriendly..

Yes, 2-wheel-transit is good. A lot of people are intimidated by that shop because they used to sell only high-end stuff, but they are now a mostly trek dealer and they are fairly reasonable. I'm also not a big fan of Wheel sport's customer service. I also like Bicycle Butler, and Spoke n' Sport, but I'm not sure if either of them do fitting.

Two Wheel Transit, any of the WheelSport shops, Bicycle Butler and Spoke n Sport are all good stores. We're very fortunate here in Spokane to have so many very good bike shops.

Spoke and Sport used to be my main bike store but one of the owners is kind of a dick (the other older guy is awesome though).

Also I went in there to have them change my brake pads (yes, I don't fix much on my bike, it never works the same after :P) and Rob said they just need to be adjusted which he did free of charge, cool right? Well some months later (the week before Seattle to Portland) that pad had rubbed through my tire and into the tube causing a flat just over the bridge on CT and Hamilton.. So I walked my bike over to Two Wheel where I was fixed up right (I was heading there anyways because I needed a flat blade spoke nipple and they were one of two shops that had them) they took care of me and gave me a discount because I was so flustered at the situation and stayed past closing to get me on the road again... He (I forget his name, the "younger" hippie guy) even had me come back the next day to re-true the wheel when he had more time to do it (free of charge..). They've been my shop ever since..

I agree Two Wheel Transit is a very good shop but is limited to "Trek Products" , here are some other good/excellent options, Steve Loveland who started "2 Wheel" has opened a small shop in Browne's addition on Cannon between 2nd and Pacific (Steve's on Cannon), I've bought 6 bikes form him including a custom made "Seven", Fitness Fanatics has a great resource in Jim Brittain who used to build custom bikes, had his own shop for years and has raced and toured extensively since the sixties, Argonne Cycle in Millwood a good source with good prices and Wheel Sport on Division has a very good knowledgable mechanic in "Mic"
