Tour De Cure

Anyone doing the tour de cure?

It's on may 21st. Anyone know how the route looks?

I'm trying to decide between the 45 and the 70.

I'm not familiar with the area so I don't know how hilly it is.

My longest ride thus far was 37 miles on the Burke Gilman last Saturday.

Wish I had flat rides where I live!!!
:)

I am not riding it, but I have ridden the roads covered by both the 45 and 70 miles courses. They are hilly. Not huge leg burning hills, but a steady diet of rollers with a few longer hills thrown in for good measure. You won't be seeing many table flat roads.

Here is the description from their website:

Q? What is the terrain of the ride like?
The Seattle area Tour de Cure offers routes and distances accommodate all abilities. Riding options include challenging routes of 25, 45, 70, and 100 miles, as well as the “Flat 15” family ride on the Lake Sammamish River Trail. Cyclists on the 45, 70, and 100 mile courses will enjoy challenging climbs and exhilarating descents as they cycle on beautiful roads north to Snohomish and Monroe. The 25 mile scenic route around Lake Sammamish offers varying terrain.

The 45 miler goes out from Marymoor to Cadman Concrete on Union Hill Rd (before the climb) and turns out to Avondale. Then heads up Novelty, out Old Redmond Rd, back to Avondale. That section is all light rollers and low grade steady climbs (2% or less mostly). Then you head out Paradise Lake Rd towards Duvall-ish direction (also rollers, some short steep climbs) then turn back through the valley on Tualco and Snoqualmie Valley Rd.
The grand finale of all the routes is the hilliest part: Up Woodinville-Duvall to Old Woodinville Rd. Then continue climbing up 232nd and follow the rollers out to the base of Trilogy Hill and head up past the golf course to Novelty Hill Rd. Then keep climbing to the top of the ridge and head out Redmond Ridge Rd. More rollers and a couple good short, steep climbs before reaching Union Hill and a screaming 9% double-S-curve downhill, then it's flat for 1.5 miles back to the park.

I'll be riding the 45 miler. Can't miss me. 6'6" on a brown and pink monstercross singlespeed, wearing a pink "Team Soft Like Kitten" kit.

I know the century route has 6500' of climbing, and that's loaded in the north loop. I'd guess maybe 2500 for the 45 miler.

I'm riding with CliftonGK1, I'll be the one wearing the Green TdC jersey and looking like Im standing in a hole when Im with this guy!
I just did a 50mi with 3500 feet of elevation (from what I was told) not bad for a flatlander. I think this will be my 3rd time out on the 45 in redmond. Just have fun with it, its not a race! :thumb:

I'm actually really excited to do it. I just used mapmyride to map it out (as best as I could anyways) and it seems like it's only about 1600 ft elevation gain so that's actually quite reassuring.
I'll see you guys out there. I'll be the one in the green/yellow jacket. ;)
