Road rides out of Hunters, WA

I'll be camping at Hunters campground on Lake Roosevelt along hwy 25 this summer and am looking to do a little bit of riding. I found an 80 mile +/- loop over Cedonia-Addy pass and back through Chewelah, Valley and Springdale which looks interesting. Are there any recommended road routes for riding to the south through Welpinit?

Sorry for the slow reply, and I may not have all the right info you seek.

On Hwy 25 I have only ridden from Gifford to Hunters, then over to Springdale. I rode on a mid-week day starting early from a campground a short distance north of the Inchelium ferry. Wonderful riding, grades not too steep on the road to Springdale. The road due east out of Gifford is twisty with no shoulder and fast autos&trucks; that was the route I started and abandoned on a previous ride. I would only advise to minimize your travels on Hwy 395. The road west from Inchelium across the Reservation is rough pavement in places with not many places to stop. Lots to see across the road at times.

Thanks for the info. I returned from my trip earlier this week. I wound up making 2 rides out of Hunters while there.

I rode north on hwy 25 to Cedonia-Addy rd, Blue Creek rd, hwy 395 through Chewelah to hwy 231 through Valley and back via Hunters-Springdale rd. This was around 80 miles, with good to excellent road surfaces and shoulders.

I also road an out-and-back south on hwy 25 to Fort Spokane at 2-Rivers. This was 40 miles round trip with good road surfaces and shoulders. There's more traffic on hwy 25 than on the county roads, but the shoulder is a couple feet wide allowing for some room.

I ran into some locals riders while there who discouraged me from riding through Welpinit due to traffic on hwy 231 between Ford and Springdale.

Oh, and I also saw some BIG turkeys on Cedonia-Addy road :)
