Bikes: everywhere

I just put a 6-pack of beer in the snow on my porch, something the likes of which I haven't done since 1990 when I lived in Flagstaff.

I also noticed that one of the (what I thought were all) 20s in my wallet was actually a 50!

Does it look that damn bad? I can upload my rides to Garmin Connect and record everything but cadence and power. Don't judge me bro!
Just having some fun. I think function is most important. Hell, I just have a basic Cateye on my bike.

I guess it just depends on what your goals are. For the March run, I just want to finish. I don't care if I'm DFL, I really just signed up for this run as an early "goal" to make sure I wasn't slacking off, and to help me get into gear with running.

For the half-Ironman, the goal right now is to finish at a respectable time, so, middle of the pack perhaps? That goal may be adjusted as training progresses (or doesn't progress)...

My goal for an Ironman would be "don't die."

Nice. Do you try to run a set pace like when you're on the treadmill?

I'm not sure about 2012 Ironman. I'll really have to see how my training progresses once I get all this running out of the way. It takes such a big time commitment.
My ex is gearing up for the big 8K run coming up around St. Pat's Day. I tried to goad her into taking on the 15K option, but no go. She says she'll HTFU for that next year, though.

Bonus!

When I wore suits regularly, I would occasionally find a $20 in a breast pocket that I didn't remember putting there.

Bikes: 2011 Trek Madone 6.5 w/SRAM Red 22

So, I got my 2011 Madone 6.5 down to 15 lbs 11 oz, Gotta reduce it by 312 grams to get under 15 lbs.

I can get 1/2 that with a new saddle. The rest will have to be in the area of bottle cages, pedals, & bearings (change to ceramic), & skewers.

8k won't be too bad with a little training.

She got in 4 miles on Tuesday. Up from 3 miles a couple weeks ago. What's 8K, about 5 miles? She's pretty much there

I honestly can't remember the last time I had writer's block. I guess, if it was too dark (or snowy) to ride, I would come to BikeForums and look for classic threads to entertain me.

Yeah. Most training plans don't even have you do the full distance during training. They said the race-day excitement will push you to the finish.

You could always skip the bottle cages entirely. Hydration is over rated.

What cassette, tires, and tubes are you using? That is usually a good place to lose some weight. Also, what brakes are you using?

I saw one of those oval distance stickers on the back of a car window today that read "13.1". Really?

Correct.

In a related story, my cousin is running the Disney's Princess Half-Marathon this weekend.

It depends. Titanium baby bike bolts are okay, just make sure they don't get stollen.

The Austin Marathon was last weekend...the winning woman, local Desiree Ficker, clocked a 2'50". The winning man, who ran w/o his watch but wore two bracelets to represent his new twins born a couple weeks before, ran a 2'30". Holy crap...that's cookin'!
