My wife has very occasional benign positional vertigo (BPV). The Epley Maneuver fixes her right up. That said, she went to the doctor immediately when she first experienced it and got the correct diagnosis. Always get an immediate diagnosis for vertigo, it can be a symptom of something that can cause a major change in your life, and not in a good way..

Like Carbonfiberboy 's partner, my wife has similar experiences. She has bouts of vertigo and the Epley maneuver cures it. I help her get the positions right. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it right or it needs to be repeated to get the full effect. Also, doing the maneuver makes her want to puke. But it fixes the problem. Then she's fine until some months later those dang ear crystals get out of position and she needs it again....

PTs in rehab did this for me after my crash in 2017. It was nausea inducing in the moment, but it apparently put the rocks back where they belonged. I haven't had any issues since.

I also have to rearrange the rocks in my head occasionally using the Epley Maneuver.
