Mine is a 2012 approx. Aluminum frame. $ I paid $425 for it 2014. They are awesome bikes, imho. I toured mine down the CA coast and it is still one of my go-to commuter bikes. I love it.

I agree with the guy at the shop, but it's also good to know what the ballpark original retail price was. FWIW, there's a 2016 on Pinkbike (https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2934076/) selling for $650.
