Tour of Utah

I'm wondering why the online feed is showing T. Danielson in the peloton.

I'm wondering why the Tour of Utah has only one mountain finish and most all of the stages are loops?

Not too crazy about the route, but the last two stages should be interesting. The coverage is atrocious though.

Yes they claim over and over again that it's the hardest stage race in America, lol. I watched the last 20k of stage 1 on youtube, I believe Frankie was one of the commentators, it was ok. I watched stage 2 on TV, Fox Sports 1 is covering, Steve Brown, Todd Gogulski and Jennifer Hale will provide race coverage. All of the above are better than Phil Ligget

Tour Tracker races always are amateur-hour in the productions trailer.

Disagree. Gogulski is OK, but the other two are awful (especially Brown).

I've been watching, yes I now feel spoiled by NBCSports's coverage of the TdF. I don't have a problem with any of the commentators (NBC or FS1), no way could I find that much to talk about over hours and hours of racing.

I was wondering why anyone has to talk at all. On screen info shows the race situation. Do we really need to hear that much more? I'd gladly watch live feed with no or very little commentary.

Good point; I just started watching cycling this year so the commentary helped me with the learning curve of understanding the teams, tactics, terminology, etc. Most guys on here don't need the basic stuff. Though I will say that FS1 is talking a lot more about drafting and cornering, etc which the NBC guys assume everyone knows.

I miss Paul and Phil. I'm sure not having a radio makes it harder to get information but when the race app has information sooner than the commentators that's a problem. They don't seem to get much practice covering races, so I can't blame them.

I agree with the other two being bad, but Phil is THE worst, tho this year was a little better than the past few tours for him, I didn't hear him calling guys the wrong names, etc. tho I mostly watched the Eurosport coverage.

You need to listen to Sean Kelly and the the other Eurosport guys cover a race, so much better.

You too, watch Kelly and the Eurosport guys and you won't miss Phil and Paul, I like Paul tho. And yeah the FS1 coverage needs some practice!

I've watched plenty on Eurosport. My point was the last race I watched was the TDF, and coverage was night and day.

I feel sorry for gogulski. Watched him do one of the smaller races last year, thought he was kind of a goofball. Yesterday, the guy calling the race with him called the riders "cyclers". And the girl asked a guy after winning a stage how he felt about being able to wear the yellow jersey to start tomorrow after winning the stage. And good grief, how many commercials can you shove in to the broadcast? But the worst happened while I'm watching a recording of stage six-they showed the result of the race on the creeper on the bottom of the screen? WTF. I miss NBC's coverage.

No one shared the footage of matt brammeier's awful crash at Stage 6. Warning... not easy to watch but spoiler alert no bloody graphics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyRqN7ukxrw / different angle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTQiCkdEm14 . Looks like that Porsche might actually have saved his life, god knows where he was going to end if he didn't stop there. He suffered broken ribs/pelvic bone/sacrum but no brain/spine injuries. He tweeted this from hospital... https://twitter.com/Mattbrammeier85/...32125334663168 .

Wow. He was totally out of control and was headed for the woods had he not hit the car. What is amazing is that another rider did the same thing (albeit at a slower speed) and plowed into another rider. I'm trying to understand the line that other riders seemed to be taking. Instead of coming in wide and cutting the corner they all took the inside line.

Ouch! He ran into a cement truck in 2007, breaking both his legs.

The other two guys hitting the motorcycle didn't look very pretty either.

The downhill consisted of several switchbacks, and if you were going too fast for the turns prior, it set you up on the inside of that turn instead of the outside, clearly many cyclists were going too fast. Looked scary, thankfully he wasn't more seriously injured.

I wonder if Brammeier didn't have some braking issue since he was going waay faster than corner would allow esp w/vehicles ahead. Usually if top riders overcook a corner it's only by a little bit.

A lot of the NBC races have Gogulski/Schlanger announcing, maybe not the best team but I like 'em well enough. Sure the announcers tend to babble on some but that helps when one is only watching sporadically during broadcast.
