fantasy vuelta a espana time!!

it's that time again for my favorite (fantasy) grand tour of the year-the vuelta!
so many dynamics come into play for this tour vs the giro or the tdf.

league name: bike forums
league code: 17215420

deadline is saturday, august 22 @ 18:30 central european summer time.
if you're as inept as i am with time zone math, a deadline of friday before bed may work best.

Here we go again. After my TdF win, I expect not to have recovered enough to win this one.

The Rippers are in. I hope I do more than start off great and then get embarrassed like last time.

I'm in. I've had horrible picks this year, hopefully can revive myself with a good team here.

Never played any fantasy leagues before but here we go. Tough picking 9 riders with that 100 points and not going over.

Well, the good news about starting in last is there's only room for improvement. The bad news is that I'm not sure that will happen after looking at everyone's rosters.

If I have a chance of not getting left in the dust by 68venable (again!), it's all going to be because Pozzovivo carries my lard ass on his little frame. "Where's the Beef" is in.

I read that Cancellara is out now so I will be missing those points in the future.

My team is down two riders now at Stage 3: Nibali and Cancellara. The Nibali expulsion is a little extreme from the footage I've seen, but you have to question why they would do that when they were only 30 secs behind. Any other opinions on his expulsion?

EDIT: At this rate, I might not have a team by half way through the Vuelta.

I think he deserved what he got. Just because you are a GC doesn't mean you get special treatment. He was riding at the front of a group, the car appeared, he disappeared, and then got a 10mph boost along the road lol. It was actually kind of funny.

Sagan was looking good yesterday. I hope for him to have it again today.

Nibali and his DS lost their minds, both at the time of the sticky solid rocket booster bottle and in the sniveling comments later. That was hideously egregious. The footage was a smoking gun, though the gun was hidden behind the team car there was plenty of smoke in scorched earth behind it. The flailing comments about "everyone does it," referring to people attacking during crashes and drafting in cars to catch onto the back (vs. rocket off the front), speaks to sins that are a whole order of magnitude less and only serves to highlight just how far out of bounds they were.

I seem to be stuck mid-field.

Thanks goodness for Dan Martin and Sagan. Was actually going to go for Dumilion over Martin, but stuck with Martin. Cancellara out for me to.

My sprinter, Danny Van Poppel has been invisible! Haven't even caught a glimpse of him in the sprints.

My GC riders, Froome and TJ, haven't done anything great so far.

Long way to go...

I feel there's a lot of teams (GC) holding back/reserving themselves for latter on and don't seem to worried about Chaves, Dumoulin and Sagan at the moment. The next 4 stages should shake things up a bit and 11, like you say 68venable, will definitely be a deciding day.

However the rest of it turns out, Chaves is sure looking like the velovalue of the race.

I had my eye on Dumoulin but didn't think he'd come out of recovery so well, so I was able to find some guys to score next to 0 with those salary points instead.

A sad day for Team American Express.

An emotional, teary eyed Director Sportiff, Giacomo 1, had this to say after todays chaotic stage 8 -

This was perhaps the worst day I've ever had as Director Sportiff of this fine team. We lost two of our great hopes for the overall win today in one crash, TJ and Dan Martin, who was once again turning himself inside out everyday for this team. But we had to carry on, and things looked promising with Howes going out in the lead by himself and taking a minute on the field. Then he too, crashed on the way down the mountain. Later, a 4th rider from our team, Peter Sagan went down due to a motorbike incident, although we're not quite sure what happened there yet. Froome hasn't shown his TDF form and power and likely just doesn't have it, and Danny Van Poppel has been nowhere in the sprints. Maybe Pozzovivo will bring us something to cheer about, but I just don't know if its possible any longer...

So - pause as he breaks down - we will have to pick up the pieces of what's left of this team and carry on. Perhaps we will steal a stage or two, but even that doesn't look like a lock. Thank you, that's all....

LMAO I wasnt gong to podium anyway, but I had Tiralongo, Nibali, Martin, and Sagan on team Tigerbait. Do we have a "bad beat jackpot"?

Well played, sir. This is the kind of banter that should dominate these threads.

If only I knew what the Velogames equivalent of stage wins was, then I would go on record as saying I'm reduced to looking for those now with an outside chance of a top 10 on GC and really just focusing on recovering some form for Richmond. Such is bike racing.
