So many stars out in the first week. Porte looked very good on the climb as did Dan Martin. Sorry to see Porte out of the tour that was a terrible crash. Martin showed quite a bit by getting back on and racing. Barguil had an incredible ride. Uran was pretty amazing riding with only two gears in the valley what a great win. Was surprised to see Q crack. Froome looks very strong. With Thomas out now he loses support on the high mountains to come. I am not sure that matters the way he is riding right now.

now curious to see how bmc will react post-porte. wanna see them unleash gva, kung, roche, de marchi

gva, kung and roche.
Good point. I'm sure they are going to animate the stages. They have a strong and good team and a lot of rider would be capable of stage top 5s. Or winning with a bit of luck.

I was counting on Majka to be my secret weapon to demolish all of you.

If he does not bounce back and become a stage hunter extraordinaire, I'm going to have to engage Tonya Harding to get me onto the podium. I have your IP addresses.

If you know what is good for you, pray for Majka, Bling, Fuglsgang, Yates, and Barguil. I have a couple of other riders still in the race, though I've thrown in the towel on them.

hey! majka's my not-so-secret weapon! hands off! need him to start
mixing in some top 5 placing since my team pedals backwards unless kittel wins a stage.

exciting but bleepy first week +. sprinkling (too soon?) the mtn
stages in between the all-too-frequent first week sprintathon has been riveting. love it when they throw in the vosges, jura or massif central mtns along w/the usual alps/pyrenees fest. regardless of how you came down on sagangate, this race would be even better with him still in it.

I went on record saying I agreed with the Sagan DQ I saw more videos of it and have reversed my opinion.

I think the cycling gods are angry at the dismissal of Sagan and raining their displeasure with bad karma.

The withdrawal list is rather impressive. I cant remember a first week of a Gran Tour with this many riders of this caliber being out

I seem to be doing just like I always do as far as velogames TDF no threat to anyone

Kittel is a beast! Did you see how far back he was in today's sprint to the finish? Geez! Would have been more exciting if Cav and Sagan were still in.

if it weren't for kittel, i'd be even farther down the leaderboard. taking solace in the fact that i've got knees and he's leading all the 4-pointers.

jeebus...Kittel really has it down. His train doesn't get him any further than the red kite and then he just sits back and watches everything in front of him, waits for some daylight to the line and goes.

I just wish I had his hair, or at least the hair care products he uses!

He probably has a ton of product left over from his days at Giant-Alpecin!

Caffeine Shampoo!

I don't see that he bounced. He's shown finishing 28th today in the same time as the winner. Overall he's 35th at +32. This found on the official TdF website. There's only one Chaves, right? Esteban on Orica?

Beastly again today. Let's see if he can go for 8 sprints.

What has happened to Greipel? He's not even winning anyone the show bet. It seems he's getting punked by every team's sprinters now.

My diversification strategy (Majka - Barguil - Fuglsgang, etc.) is done. Stick a fork in me.

I got a chuckle checking the overall standings yesterday -- all teams, not just our league. The first place team has Froome, Thomas, Kittel, and a lot of cheap Sky minions for their assist points. And is crushing it.

My takeaway fantasy strategy -- put all your eggs in one basket. Pick the right basket.

Sort of like the Will Rogers git rich quick investing strategy: buy a heap of cheap stocks. When they go up, sell 'em. If they don't go up, don't buy 'em.

Wow Froome blew up didn't he?! Shades of when he rode for Wiggins and wanted to bolt. Landa actually did! The best 300km of the race.

So is Qunitana a has been before he ever was?

Nice to see a little ***** in the Sky armor but it sure won't help my points standing!

Quintana ended up 2nd at the Giro, after losing it on the final day TT. To expect much out of him at the TdF is optimistic. He's 27 y.o. so I think he still has a bright future ahead. Losing Valverde hurt a lot, but still...competing against top riders that target the TdF as their Grand Tour, after reaching the podium in the Giro, is a losing proposition.
