Spoiler tour talk about everything but Sagan and Cav
Every thread has been hijacked by the back and forth about Sagan and Cav so I thought I'd start a thread about everything else that's going on. For example today's race. Great finish!
Let's make this a live/spoiler thread so if you haven't watched don't come here.

Good job Aru! The skyborg just let him go but when Yates Porte and Martin tried to make a move the beast was awakened.
Bummer for Quintana.

It looks like Quintana and Contador don't have their form yet...or ever...
I think Porte is going to give Froome a run for his money. Aru was brilliant this morning.
Yeah stages 8 and 9 and 12 and 13. Some really tough mountain stages should be great this year.

I think BMC wasted alot of energy upfront for nothing today, as Porte actually lost time to Froome. Thats alot of effort for naught. Dinnertime at the BMC table might be alittle tense tonight.
Aru was phenomenal.
Bad day for Talansky, but I am enjoying the duo of Brown and Phinny.

It was a great attack by Aru, went from :56 to only :14 seconds down in the overall. Can't sleep on him, he looks in great form and hopefully he can challenge in the later mountain stages. Quintana looks beat. He already underwhelmed at the Giro and is now isolated during the climbs at the tour due to the lose of Valverde. It will be interesting to see where he is at come the Alps. In hopes of an exciting finish, I hope he finds his form.
I thought Contador ended well today. He was the engine that nearly bridged the gap to Froome and Porte towards the end - even Quintana was trying to hang on his wheel. Finishing only :06 a drift from Froome isn't to shabby for those old legs!
And what can be said about Sky that hasn't already been said? They entered the climb with five riders out front, providing a huge shield for Froome. I'm doubtful that anyone can challenge him this year... but its early and surprises do happen

I think Porte can challenge Froome. He has a lot of heart and looks good. He might have won the Dauphine had he not lost contact with Froome's group on that one stage. Even after that happened he almost made it back to grab the win.
I love Aru. He's fun to watch. Quintana is toast. He never lived up to his own hype. And I have always been a Contador fan, even through the Spanish beef years.

It was interesting to hear Andy Schleck more or less dismiss Contador as a contender. I think we all know this, but maybe we're reluctant to admit it. I think Contador can still be an exciting racer to watch, and I'd like to see him contend but I really don't expect it.
After stage 3 Phil (or possibly Paul) said that Froome didn't lose time to anyone who mattered. I think Dan Martin might beg to differ. Is it too much to hope for him to keep this up?

Well who would have thought Valverde would be out stranding Quintana? Anything can happen on any stage. Not just bad stuff mind you. Good stuff too! Aru proved that today. I read an article just now where Froome admitted to being caught off guard by how strong Aru was.

It's too bad Andy Schleck retired so young from cycling, he's only 32. He had a ton of hype that just fizzled out.
Quintana always seems to give up too much time in the first week and gets stronger in weeks 2-3 but with him putting a big effort into the Giro, making the podium going to be hard for him.
I still think this is Froome's to lose.

Contador is trying so hard to be remotely relevant...can we just start taking bets on what stage he'll crash out?

This is sort of about Sagan and Cav, but I think it belongs here anyway b/c its a stage 6 spoiler...
Kittel looked very good in the sprint today, but I have to think it's easier for him to shine when Cav and Sagan aren't there. Sure there are lots of other strong sprinters, but two of the most explosive are missing from the mix.

I was wondering if the remaining sprinters are all of a sudden in the open, like a Swedish hockey forward would be if all the Manitoba/Saskatchewan defensement were removed from the NHL...

I don't mind watching a race where the results are no longer a given. I feel the same way about the Gc. I love to see guys come up through the ranks. Aru yesterday catching Froome off guard was great.

Uran's pranged his rear derailleur and is stuck in the small rear cog, with his only gear choices by the front dr.

Dan Martin did really well to get back.
Quintana is a spent force, but I personally haven't rated him very highly anyway.
Contador is also a spent force... maybe he can't get that 'special steak' any more.
And Uran took the win on a photo finish... with a stuffed bike. Fantastic effort.
