Once we have the torrent going, somebody else with a full copy of the 'big' file can attempt shrinking it for those on slower connections. (My downstream is 3Mbps).
upload the torrent and let us know where it is, or give us an ftp address er sumthin !!

I am meant to have a 256k connection, but I see about 6mbps each way (in the past have seen 16mbps up and 32mbps down, but 6mbps is a regular occurrence) - I will help seed or anything as needed seeing how I have a GOOD upload speed.

Someone on https://www.demonoid.com is uploading the 2005 Tour De France stage by state. Stage 1 is currently posted and I am downloading from 9 peers. I don't know when Stage 2 will be up. I hope sometime today. I have yet to see it so I really want it.
Demonoid is a registration member site so it's not like torrentspy where you can just download. I hope this helps.

once you have the stage 1 file, could you re-seed it to another (public) tracker such as mininova or thepiratebay?

I just posted 2005 Stage 01 on mininova.org. Here is the direct link to the download. Let me know if there are any problems with the torrent and connecting. I will post others as I am able to get them through demonoid.

For those who are still using the 'stock' bittorrent client, you might like trying the bittornado client. It shows more statistics, and lets you control the upload rate (PLEASE set it to unlimited if you can!)
It's open-source.

I have a .VOB set (about 4.5GB), french language only, no subtitles, PAL of last year's 2004 tour.
It's about 130 minutes long, and has commentary from Laurent Jalabert (sp?). It probably won't play properly if burned to disc and used with a NTSC TV, but PowerDVD plays it fine on my computer. When I can get somewhere with more than 256kbps upstream I'll start seeding it...
