Pro Cycling Memorabilia
Is there such a thing as authenticated Pro Cycling Memorabilia (autographed collectibles, trading cards, raced used memorabilia, etc...) like there are with other sports? I'm talking about true authenticated merchandise from a reputable company, not all the bogus stuff like you see on eBay.
Id like to get some autographs of my favorite cyclists, but without meeting them in person (highly unlikely), there doesn't seem to be very many options out there.
Anyone have any insight?

Here in Belgium there is a phone number you can call to leave your mailing address and Eddy M's daughter will send you an autographed photo of him.

I'm currently riding Lawson Craddock's bike from last year....guess that counts as memorabillia?
There are a few items you can find here and there, but as one can imagine it's not as easy to find as other sports.

I collect (in UK) cycling ephemera - not so much pro cycling stuff but mostly advertising in various forms. Quite hard to get now but always worth the chase. I sent EM a couple of photographs a while ago and after a couple of months he returned them, duly signed. Wish I'd sent him my Corsa 01 !

Only pro-cycling item is the promotional magazine issued for the TdF 1998 in Ireland.

So that left either the 2016 or 2017 models that were internal compatible, and I have always been a fan of the Team frames. I didn't care for the look of the 16, so I started looking for a 17 Team frame as they had come way down in price. The odd thing was, every damn one of them was disc....and being as I had just bought new wheels I wasn't too keen on buying another set. I knew that the non disc had to be somewhere as it was raced in the Tour all of the year.
After several calls to Cannondale, it turned out that the non-disc Evo was a Euro only frame. Back to the emails to try and find one over there with no luck, including reaching out to Drapac as I know they have sold off their bikes in the past. They were fresh out, until the current season is over.
I had some searches going on eBay, and one day got a notification that Drapac's non profit, Bicycles for Humanity Colorado, had a complete bike up for sale - and it was a Team issue bike that was Lawson's practice bike last year. I think it did get used in a couple races as a backup, but I don't have the full pedigree on it - I have been planning to reach out to Lawson once the season is over and find out more. Ultegra Di2 for the shifters, and Hollowgram/Dura Ace everything else.
Their non profit provides bicycles for people in Africa, which helps them be able to travel for medical care, shopping, and life in general. I've been to Africa before and seen how bad it is there, so that kind of spoke to me to begin with. I'm technically a 52, but due to some back and other issues I usually ride a 54, which is what this bike was. I watched it go through a few auction runs with no bids, at 3k....eventually I reached out to them and asked if they would be willing to work a deal without the wheels (Vision tubulars) that I really didn't want anyway. They were willing to work it out, and my wife actually got the bike for me which was rather nice! Picked it up for 2k.
Since I got it I have been focusing on riding charity events, so it's kind of nice to ride a bike I got from a charity, while helping out other charities. I had to change the crank arms from 175s (yikes) to 170, and I am going to drop the gearing down to mid-compact when I am not on the flats....that Standard is a bear to climb with. Changed out the spindle because it was getting pretty worn (not surprising). Other than that, the bike has been a dream. Some scratches here and there but hey, it's a lot better than paying 8k for a new one!
I wanted to stay fairly true to the Team setup (I actually already was riding a full Drapac kit because I am a fan) so I added the team specific cages and bidons, and added on the same Garmin that was on it before. Considered the SRM meter for it, but they are too pricy (and not very useful) for an amateur like me. I also reached out to Victory Circle Graphics, and had them print up Lawson's tube tag and put it back on.
Just got a set of used Assaults to ride instead of the Mavic Ksyriums that I currently have on it.
It's actually been such a good deal, that I am seriously considering getting another one from them (in 52) at the end of this season. And it's a great story overall - I got my exact bike, from my favorite team, while helping out a great charity.
Hope that was worth reading - thanks for asking about it!

Well, not anything super special. I had been working on my CAAD 10 for a while, lighter components etc...my plan was to get an Evo frameset and transfer the parts over. My eventual goal was to change from 105 to Di2, and I really didn't want to run the external mod, I've ridden it and the battery mount sucks.

I have a copy of Winning magazine from 1987 with TDF winner Stephen Roche on the cover which he signed when I saw him in Majorca. One of his former teammates was there as well and happened to be in a picture in the magazine. He signed it as well.
