Fantastic day for Froome, but what a disaster for Yates.

Tomorrow will be a real test of character and team strength/tactics. 3 tough climbs in the last half of the stage.

i'm not a pufnstuf aka froomie fan (nor team sky) by any stretch of the imagination. i'm in the they're the latest incarnation of us postal camp. between wiggo and froomie, there's been some
serious sketchiness from the team that promised to bring us transparency post-armstrong and have been anything but. doesn't mean, however, that it wasn't a ballsy ride. small chance of succeeding
and a greater chance of blowing up and dropping out of podium contention. he pulled it off. i have zero illusions about froome since his meteoric rise...too good to be true. it'll all come out in the wash soon enough.

^at least you got 1000+ points out of him before his abandon. bummer he couldn't finish and stay in the top 15 for those bonus final standing points.

heartened that lopez managed to stay upright and finish a gt. slow start but if the giro had another half week and 2-3 more mountain stages, I think he'd be right there for the maglia rosa. guy has talent but may end up being better suited for the compact 5-9 day races like the toc, tour of switzerland, dauphine, romanie, etc where he can really shine vs the slog of 21 stages. no shame in that.

Two riders on the podium propelled me out of last place for the first time.

Three stage wins for Sam Bennett. I think he's earned a place in the Vuelta.

With no tangible results here and even less in the AToC, i must focus on my moral victories:

1) all my riders scored >50 points.
2) I called Froome's stage 19 flyer after stage 17. Said it out loud. I was on my mountain top in Santa Barbara when I did so you all missed it.
3) I did not stoop to ooga-booga's level (below).

Thank you guys. It's always more fun to follow a grand tour if I play fantasy cycling with you. I had my doubts about my team, especially during the first week (no domoulin, froome or pinot), but yates rescued the team.. I feel a bit stupid to use up some of the points for Pantano and Atapuma, but I guess it's partly Mitchelton-Scott's fault to chase down every break. At least Gesink delivered a second place at the end.

I, too, am disappointed in how the sky blue train fell off its transparency pedestal in a jiffy.

I am, however, fairly willing to buy in to the bilharzia bump as a real and tangible driver behind Froome's 2010-2012 renaissance.

Scratch #1 . Along with 1/3 of my morality. Oops. Ulissi and Hermans came in in the 40s for me. Things look different on the large screen than they did on my little phone. Bleaker.

I have some highlights to watch the next few days. And, as far as my Velogames performance, some lowlights to relive. Until Le Tour, that is.

agreed. nice performance. again.

not at all. pantano/atapuma usually deliver a solid performance once a year in a gt...the key is picking the right gt. i lost out on atapuma (and brambilla) this time and wanted pantano.
will probably pick at least one in the next two gt's and will probably consider both again.
