In the classic squad league, I'm rolling into De Brabantse Pijl with Zizi hot on my heels (and then there were three! ) and two non-starters, conserving the transfers to days to come. I hope I survive the attack, because I do feel one coming.
For Wednesday, I can't not predict MVDP for the win, and not merely by a bike throw and some bad juju.
Rounding out my roster, I left Teuns out in the cold and came down to a coin flip between Wellens and Trentin. I chose Wellens. That should be a clear sign to empty out the coffee cans, mortgage the back 40, and throw in Hop Tsing's top knot -- Teuns and Trentin duke it out for the win from a late break. You can thank me from the beach of your private island when you cash out on those longshot odds.

I'm chuckling because my man David Hunter the Cycling Mole came out later today and pretty much said Wellens ain't getting it done. He did toss out a couple of names I've never heard of, but I'm unswayed in my totally unjustifiable confidence. So many many leagues will score tomorrow. So many watts will be pedalled. Vive la Covid. Er, no, strike that. But, said in your best Jackie Stewart inner voice, "it will be a beautiful day for bicycle racing." And even better the next couple of weekends with proper classics coming like a freight train or the TJV.

In a rare moment of sobriety, without the clarity of a wee dram, I see I cross-posted the above to the Giro thread. At least I wasn't feeling so chatty that I waxed lyrically about Mt Etna here.

2. bail denied. guilty on all counts. sentencing at the end of the giro...
3. waxing lyrically (and poetically about, and especially active) volcanoes is permissable in said appropriate thread(s) unless you're petrarch and then you can rap/stream of consciousness riff it everywhere all the time.

Bah ha ha this snuck up on me, I thought oh I better change my roster only to realize it was already past. Lucky for me I still had Alaphillipe and Kwiatkowski
No lying I was going to add Warren Barguil as well, he looks good after having that nasty head knock. Oh c'est la vie and cosnefrey ... if only I paid more attention to my fantasies and not real life

Jeez. Ahlaphilippe almost celebrated another one away today in De Bragantse Pijl. Awfully close. He's got to work through that.
I crushed it in the PCS game for that race, with 94 pts. I compensated for that with a goose egg on the Giro today there. Waiting for scoring in the VG Superclassico and Classics Squad, but it will be closer to my Giro performance. Still, I'm counting on pipping someone before the end of Superclassico.

^ that's still a thoroughly adequate score and better than anything I've scored in the Giro. It's daunting to watch all my below average accumulate.

Zulko and team Zizi Pro smoked de brabantse pilj along with team Trollstigen another solid showing in superclassico land. Zulko and Zizi just squeaked by team slow (s)pokes in the
fantasy classics squad game. what fresh hell is this?

Indeed! Cosnefroy has had a good run and was a good pick. But Barguil? Genius.
I put my money on a few silly field bets and the Don't Come line but Juju's table was still hot. He made me pay and it's a race again in Classics Squadville. The Z man is relentless.

BTW, with Gent Wevelgem looming, I was reminded of GVA taking a hard shot from that little un-marshalled blob of traffic furniture. It really did a number on him. Season ender.

Uggh. I just saw that. Time to be a little more liberal with the transfers in the Classics Squad game (shhhh, Zulko, don't read that!) and with a wee dram of sorrow drowning.

since the ronde is the biggest remaining race, i'll shoot my shot there and carry my bike across the finish line for the other races.

heckuva battle for gent-wevelgem in the superclassico league...team Trollstigen narrowly takes it with a bike throw with teams
Zizo Pro and X Merckx The Spot tied in the photo finish.
in the fantasy classics squad league, team slow (s)pokes got thrown a sympathy bone after a miserable classics/one-days showing this annum.
the scheldeprijs (bless you!) is on the 14th so look to change rosters in the next day or two for both games or bunker down and save your powder for the ronde....

Zizi Pro is looking awfully solid atop the Superclassico.
Also on top in Classics Squadville but it's a real tight race there. Zulko sitting on 3 extra transfers (one per remaining race) could be a key factor. Though my reckless disregard of Mads Petersen for Gent-Wevelgem may have been a key factor, too.

If you want to be even less confident, I noticed Cav was on the start list. Maybe G-W wasn't the end after all.
The Wolfpack is going to crush it and the only threat is the Pocket Rocket freelancing off their beast of a lead out.
I fear Zulko may have other insights. Dude has been on a run. I need to find that voodoo doll. The good one.

It's a slugfest in classics squad land.
I'm trying to catch up to GrainBrain in Superclassico and catch down to him in the Giro. I've got some issues to work through.
