On what stage will it be called the "Froome wagon"?

Some strong showings from y'all.

There are only 182 people of 12,000+ behind me. None of you. I can feel the broom wagon. I will not call it the Froome wagon, but did chortle a bit, then felt bad because I'm trying to be a bigger person than that.

I was going to put Dan Martin out there, but the people who don't already would surely think we're both nuts.

I've seen Andrea Bagioli's name put forward and I'm liking what I'm hearing, but I can't honestly pretend I know who the hell he is.

All that said, I think it's a meat, potatoes, and Roglic kind of day.

Hot damn I love Dan Martin!

Other things ... Totally going to spend $10 for NBC Peacock and listen to Anthony and Hannah commentating. I can't wait to watch live coverage again! Also hang in there Hugh!

I felt pretty clever with Soler till I took a look at your pics

You know what they call a top ten finish? Respectable. I think I'll have a respectable Vuelta

He did a turn at the front of the peloton in the early part of the final climb, so yes he seems to be improving.

It doesn't really matter how many minutes he loses provided he's inside the time limit. He could win a stage yet in this Vuelta.

projected sprinting stages in both the giro and vuelta today and a little less than excited about either. démare and s. bennett/ackermann would seem to be the respective faves
but maybe i missed the ole 90 degree turn 400 meters or wet railroad/trolley tracks (or similar) from the finish to instigate a massive pileup somewhere within the two stages.
if so, i apologize for my lack of properly embracing the chaos.

Basque brothers do the business.

Didn't expect a GC shake-up like that with the modified stage 6.

Won't last.

Why? Carapaz has only one viable wingman in the mountains (Amador). This said, while teammates matter, he's not entirely dependent on wheel-sucking to do well. Dan has none, plus has historically shown weakness in races that go longer than 10 days. Carthy has talent, but limited support, and got burned in large chunks in TdF. An up-and-comer for sure, but he ain't gonna last. Soler is competent and a threat on any given stage, but has a history of having some bad days over a longer race. Wildcards are Grosschartner (who really knows how to spell his name?). He's already had a bad day, but is still in the mix. Really don't expect him to podium, but he could become a force in years to come. Similar for Mas. Chavez and e La Cruz... doing respectably. Outside chance of one of them making the podium, but winning? I think not.

Think that, barring illnesses or crashes, Roglic and Carapaz are the favorites going into a ridiculously early rest day.

Dan has often suffered from injuries in Grand Tours and still continued to race but not at the same level as before the crashes. If he stays injury free in this Vuelta hopefully he can prove you wrong.

His greatest handicap in GTs is his lack of ability to TT and there's still one to come in about ten days time.

I tend to lose faith in riders after cheering for them 5 or 6 times and having something untoward "happen" every single time. Have to admit, I was finally pleased to see Richie make the podium in the Tour after God knows how many disappointments. That said, I'd be happy for Dan if he were to endure and do well, but I'm a bit past jaded.

Would not be surprised to see Chavez get closer and closer, he lost time to an unfortunate mechanical but looked good Sunday. What happened to Kuss, I read he just got caught out in a split. I'm probably tempting getting struck by lightning but I'm stuck thinking about Van Aert's comment from the Tour about Sepp struggling for position at times. This might have showed yesterday. I hate to throw criticism cause the guy's awesome.
